Romo admitted he had that "jerk store" energy when he gave up the job to Dak. "I went to a dark place...", he said.

Romo always gave me the impression his "aww shucks" energy was all schtick.
I agree on the aww shucks. Romo's problem and I'll always believe this, was he thought all the time "I got it" and never asked "what if this or that happens?" He never got that coaching properly. Just thought he'd take care of it. Sometimes he did, sometimes it was a complete disaster. I'll always give him credit for trying but he was imbalanced and it stopped him from getting over the top. That's at least what I think.

Not to mention he had the puppet Ginger around. If Parcells had stuck around "a little" longer even though I wasn't a huge fan at that point of his career, it might've helped Tony. Not sure. I think he needed another year of tough love Parcells to keep him on the reservation. What do you think?

Bledsoe, jealous of Romo?

Dude actually won some games in the playoffs. Romo never even came remotely close to taking snaps in a Super Bowl. If you want to say Bledsoe is jealous because Romo married Miss Iowa, I'll hear you out.

I don't think the statements are far off. He was always arrogant and aloof at the same time.
Got me looking for playoff stats.

Bledsoe 3 wins 3 losses 6 TDs 12 INTs QB rating 54.9.
Romo 2 wins 4 losses 8 TDs 2 INTs QB rating 93.0.

Bledsoe was worse than Romo in the playoffs.
Bledsoe made the Super Bowl because of Brady.

Wait, wasn't Romo like a 4th or 5th year player at that point? Brady was a rookie or 2nd year? Of course Brady would ask more questions.

Now that we’re 8 yrs in with # 4 and he’s the “ highest paid player in the NFL “ how does this translate into today ? Is Dak growing is he curious does he learn during the week ? I don’t know . Saw some good today in Cleveland and some mediocrity . He got Romo benched . It’s a cycle .

For some throwback news

--------------------------------------------------------
13. Speaking of Brady, if you didn’t know, his former Patriots teammate, Drew Bledsoe, apparently greatly preferred backing up TB12 to former Cowboys star Tony Romo, who now broadcasts for network rival CBS. But now, we definitively know. "Romo, you know this is true,” Bledsoe said on a feature during ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown.” “The minute that he became the starter, he became pretty big in his own mind. He was no longer the curious, inquisitive guy. That was the difference between him and Tommy. … All of a sudden Romo was the guy that had all the answers."

Yep. 100% agree with Drew Bledsoe. It was so obvious if you paid close attention to Romo during his early starting years. The dude went Hollywood and behaved as if he knew it all.

I was a huge Romo guy, but this isn’t exactly hard to believe. Early on Romo had a huge head on him.
Yep. Agreed. I've said that since the end of the 2006 season when Romo was finally our starter but he went Hollywood immediately. Not until he finally met his wife and settled down did Romo finally mentally mature and take the game much more seriously. Sad how his body was already breaking down at that point. I've gotten blasted in the worst ways for stating the obvious. Now, I'm glad Bledsoe came out and finally said the same. Means a lot to me since it proves I was correct in my assessment all along. Nothing against Tony, especially since I truly liked him, especially before he became a starter in 2006 and in the 2010s when he finally gave up the Hollywood limelight, met his wife and mentally matured.

That Bledsoe would say this so many years after the fact is just sour grapes. Yeah, Romo had a big head early on. But to whine about it nearly 20 years after the fact? hahahahaha Reminds me of some posters on here. Crying out "But but but ROMO!" any time anyone has any criticism of Dak.
You and a few others never could handle the truth about Romo, even now when Bledsoe has come out and said the obvious for what some of us got blasted and suspended incessantly for years upon years for stating the obvious.

I dont know if just a year would have helped, but Romo absolutely needed a real HC. By the time he was starting to get it all figured out, his body was breaking down, and that too was partly due to some bad decisions.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard people say this about romo
Actually it is.

Can you point me to some other references where this was said about him?

Romo was constantly trying to improve upon his game, constantly trying to learn. His early broadcasting career had him calling plays before they happened showed that.

So because Bledsoe lost his job to him, he’s now become some authority on Romo’s “big head” and lack of inquisitiveness. Maybe there was just better people to learn from than a guy who was benched for playing awful, like Bill Parcells.

“Bledsoe says what I like because it confirms my hatred for Romo, therefore he’s right.”

So the top pick in his draft knows what it is to be more humble than an undrafted player who just suddenly got a big head?

Shouldn’t you be hating on Dak for being greedy and asking for $60 million like you said?

Bledsoe seemed like a good dude to me in Tom Brady’s Roast.

Rookie Dak replaced him as the locker room’s leader in Year One, and was a player’s vote, so not far-fetched to me.

I’m sure it’s humble pie to lose your job not only once, but twice.

Parcells was always big on ‘don’t eat the cheese’ and ‘anointing oil’ comments. Pretty sure he knew what he had in Romo.

Romo would have had more success if he played more of his early years for Bill Parcells instead of Jerry Jones,
