Medical red flag for Washington. More reasons why I’m surprised he wasn’t the pick. Medical red flag is a green flag for us
I agree. But I think Mike wanted guys right now that could help, not later. His job is on the line. I think thats why we reached 1 rd too early with the TE. Thats why we went Deuce and not Evans. Flags galore.

Was Torrence going to play tight end? Because eTorrence was not starting for us. Make no mistake about it. I wanted Torrence but I knew he wasn't going to start for us. I wanted him because maybe he can be a starter down the road.....can never have too many linemen. But Torrence was not starting barring a injury and even then still might not based on how they talk about their linemen.
So talk is they are pushing Smith inside to LG after a quality rookie season as LT....all so Tyron can play LT......until he gets hurt again of course....then who plays LG??? Oh, and what happens if Martin gets hurt?

Torrence could have been plugged in at LG and Dallas would have had the left side of their line secure for years........but hey, Dallas got a 3rd TE so no worries.

How is being picked at #59 overall translate into "he almost didn't get drafted"???? That makes ZERO sense.
Really? I guess I may have missed that. My bad then. I must be thinking about another lineman. I know their was a big name lineman that fell far

but then again, he almost didnt get drafted. Maybe the other 31 teams saw what we did meaning Will McClay? I like the Richards kid far better than Torrence.Richards said he has center flex as well. Great value.
Don’t thing Torrence was even in consideration but if Mauch was still available at 58 then things might of been different.

No its not

We signed free agent Guard Chuma Edoga and drafted Asim Richards to move from Tackle to Guard.

My bad guys. I didnt realize Torrence was drafted at 59. I mixed him up with another guy that fell far.

He did. But pales in comparison as a prospect. People scouting reports compare him to Kittle. Schultz comparisons were Dwayne Allen and Zack Ertz. There's levels here.
....and here is Football Focus' pre-draft write up comparisons of one Jamarcus Russell:

"Russell is possibly the most physically talented quarterback prospect since John Elway. He's 6-foot-6, 260 pounds with an arm that makes Brett Favre look like Danny Wuerffel. Russell is also a good runner and his arm strength allows him to hit any open receiver while he is on the move. He has huge hands, which help him avoid fumbles, and remarkably quick feet for such large man. Physically, Russell compares favorably to Daunte Culpepper, Byron Leftwich, and Ben Roethlisberger, all of whom have had some degree of success in the NFL."

So Dallas just drafted the next Kittle? Amazing, can't wait to see that. lol

Chuma would be their guard if Tyron gets hurt. Same If Zack Martin gets hurt. There's going to be drop off regardless. Going from Zack Martin to Torrence is a drop off too. Torrence was a good prospect. But he was not starting for us this year.

Jamarcus Russell had issues and demons that stopped him from fulfilling his potential. Had nothing to do with being compared to Elway. Had he been able to play with Randy Moss who knows how his career would've went. Or maybe not getting drafted by the lowly Raiders.

I'm not saying he's Kittle. I'm just saying that's what guys think he can be if he hits his potential. Schultz was compared to at best Zack Ertz.

I guess they are saying 28 is too old for a 2nd contract if he proves worthy
He will actually be 29 if my math is right. That's the issue that I had with the pick in the 2nd. I don't care how old you are as a 4th or 5th. But as a 2nd rounder....I'd prefer someone in the 22 or 23 and under range unless they play QB.

But if he's ready to come right in and contirbute(Tight ends typically don't but he's also older than most who come in) then this is all moot. I get 3 or 4 prime years out of him I don't care how how old he is. But typically its year 3 or 4 for these guys and he's 28 or 29 by then. For this pick to work he has to make a impact in year 1 or 2.

Nobody cares how old you are if you're George Kittle lol. IF your ceiling is Ferguson or Dalton Schultz? That's a issue.

we need 4-5 TE on 53 man roster, what are we supposed to do? Same goes fo OL too, may be they felt they can get Vet OL than vet TE to shore up the position
