It's not like Tony is replacing Nantz, he's replacing another former player not a professional journalist/broadcaster. Simms is OK, he's better than average, but he ain't no John Madden. Tony may not have broadcaster experience, but has shown natural ability in other TV and commercial spots. If CBS wanted to land Tony, they would have had to up the ante, he could have chosen to go to another network.

I'm well aware of the context, but thank you for explaining to me that water is wet.

None of that invalidates her statement. It's possible for two things to be true.

That's all that I'm saying.

People that go into sports broadcasting know that the deal going in. The greatest non-celebrity athlete/coach broadcaster is always 2nd fiddle to those celebrities.

In terms of comparing the celebrities, the bigger celebrities will always be desired by the networks. Some network even tried to make guys like Emmitt into broadcasters despite the obvious problems with that idea.

It's funny that she'll be praised, receive rounds of support, and maybe even some interviews over those tweets, while if one of us did something like that at our job, we would be lucky to still have one. To quote Bonnie Bernstein .. "No offense. But that's total crap."

That said, I agree with what she is saying :)
I boooooo you.

And our sense of labor fairness?
Romo is mortal. He is akin to Danny White, brilliant then mundane. But without the charisma.
My sense, blokes, is that Romo has been given a free pass, both as a failed QB in Dallas and now as a CBS broadcaster.
Blimey! A very capable and hard working broadcaster Bonnie Bernstein, took Tony to task for usurping a prime broadcasting gig from capable EXPERTIENCED men and women who have the ability and experience. Google it!
Bonnie, had she wanted to QB the Cowboys would not be received kindly. Yet we are expected to accept an amateur, Tony Romo, to replace Phil Simms.
And I won't duck. I can and will suffer the slings and arrows from those who are into entitlement.

He is white.............ugh

The issue isn't whether or not he is white. It is whether or not he is afforded white privilege. In all attempts to prove white privilege, the go-to demographics are Hispanics and African-Americans. You can't have it both ways.

Free pass as a failed QB???? It was the FO that failed Romo, not the other way around. Lets hope the FO doesn't do the same to Dak and Zeke. Romo was more than capable of winning multiple SB's with this team. He was the least of their problems during his time.....

I don't care what CBS does with him or any of its employees.

Nor do I care about this thread. I'm into football, not broadcasting.

And here I thought it could not possibly get any worse than the 40 gigawatts or whatever.

Tony is likeable. What's hard to understand about this?

I don't care if you wrote a book or ten about journalism and broadcasting. That does not mean viewers want to listen to you. I don't tune in for the broadcasters.

Personally, I tend to prefer former players or coaches as announcers. I like hearing those "inside the locker room" stories about how some guy used to be a huge jerk or another player was a practical joker or a guy had a good reputation around the league.

At least she and I agree that Phil Simms and total crap belong in the same tweet together

In Philly they're attributing Romo getting the lead gig to white privilege.

That white boy Antonio Ramiro Romo.
So ... He is not white?
What is your proof or rationale?
You are, like, a genealogist?
Thank you.

Simms sucks. Replacing him with Bonnie Bernstein would have been a big improvement.
