I remember that too. Jerry's lack of desire to win just constantly blows my mind.

It is not true to say he does not care about winning.

He wants to win conditionally. Otherwise, he can take it or leave it depending on the brand's relevance.

There's a story on ESPN about injuries this year, and the basic gist is that injuries are up leaguewide. As Belichick has said, there's a theory that the new CBA that gives the players more time off and easier practices is contributing to this.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10192386/clayton-mailbag-injury-epidemic-ignored

But here's a quick sort of starter games lost this year to injury or suspension:

2013
NYG 87
OAK 78
SD 74
NO 71

ATL 69
SEA 64
NE 62
DEN 61
GB 56

JAX 55
ARZ 54
DAL 53
CAR 52
IND 52

TB 51
CHI 47
PIT 47
HOU 45
MIN 44
SF 42
STL 41
WAS 39
BUF 35
BAL 34
DET 34
CIN 31
MIA 30
PHI 26
TEN 25
CLE 23
KC 21
NYJ 11

So yeah, the idea that we've been especially bad off is just wrong.

see this explains why garrett is hamstrung by injuries
none of the teams whose starters have lost as many games as us or more than us are in the conversation for the post-season

Of course. I meant him doing whatever it takes to win. But we know that's bogus. He's only interested in trying to win his way, with himself running the show, etc.

If he showed the same passion for the bottom line of winning games as he does about marketing the team each week, we would have what a lot of people think he is.

Not saying Jerry will fire Garrett but what else is he going to say now? He has a big home game on Sunday to sell to the fans. I don't believe anything that comes out of his mouth.

I think you are not seeing the big picture..

..really I'm proud of how Garrett has taken the Romo issue and used it to our advantage as much as possible.

This is a galvanizing moment for Redball.

If this team wins on Sunday..

it will be as much because Garrett played the media game and kept the Iggles off balance.

Then if he coaches a victory and all 43 guys show up.

..we'll have bought another week to get Romo well.

Not sure you can ask more from Garrett.

Let's wait and play the game.

I've seen us beat the Iggles already.

I've seen us sweep the Skins and Jints.

Now its time for the Iggles.

Hardly.

Being coy about Romo's status will do about as much good as it has for McCarthy in Green Bay about Rodgers for the past several weeks.

The Eagles are probably far more concerned about how to score points on a bad defense than wondering if Romo plays or not.

If they are allowing Jason Garrett being vague and elusive at press conferences to throw them off, they are one poorly run football team.

re the injury bug, there's an interesting article in today's Washington Post on how Belicheck has handled that issue

He won't do what other owners have done to increase the chances of winning - e.g., hire a GM, step way back, and stop pretending that he is the "football guy" running the show.

Depth is talent. Having a top heavy roster does not guarantee much of anything. We have about the same number of "good players" as everyone else.

When we are playing with our 18th-19th Dlineman it shows we started the season with no depth. Our FO wrongfully projected Ware-Ratliff-Hatcher-Spencer as our front four; which is solid. The talent was there on paper.

Of course..whatever you say..coach

Enjoy the game if you can.

I actually plan to enjoy it.

It will be about as pure of a barometer to judge what kind of football team and coach we have. This is real adversity with something at stake.

They really want to confuse the Eagles?

Let Jerry do the press conferences this week & stick a sock in Garrett.

I can pretty much guarantee none of them will know what he said after those PC's.

Uh, hmm. Well uh...

Agreed.

And like it or not..drama is part of the appeal.

Every football fan in the country knows what is going on with this team.

And shortly the team gets to play it out on the field.

Where's my popcorn? And where is TO when we need him?

Yeah I was one of the people that used to say that JJ wanted to win more than anyone else but after watching closely I came to realize that he wants to get the credit for winning more than anything else. JJ wants no part in winning after hiring a high profile coach or a gm because everyone would say that the reason we were winning is because of said coach or gm and it would prove that his naysayers were right all along.

I think at this point he is entrenched in his philosophy and come hell or high water he's going to make it work. He's kind of like a person that plays a certain slot machine for hours upon hours, he's losing money but he doesn't want to leave the machine because he thinks that the next person will hit the jackpot after he's fed it all day.

I totally agree, what's the difference in preparing for an 65% Romo or a 100% Orton? It's not like you going from defending a running type qb to a pocket passer.

Couldn't have said it better. Ever since his split with Jimmy he's been adamant about trying to receive credit for building a team. Even winning that SB with Switzer, he and everyone knew the core of that team was left over from Jimmy's days. Jerry not only wants to be GM but he wants to make sure he isn't in the shadows of the HC either. It's the main reason he refuse to hire prominent HC's and won't even let the HC hire all of his own staff.

Jerry wants to micromanage all aspects of the franchise so he can receive the credit if we win. But what he has yet to realize is that the way he operates is counterproductive to winning. Relying on himself with input from Lacewell and Switzer will not build a championship team. Neither will hiring coordinators as HC and not giving them the full power and authority a HC should have. But he's more afraid about a prominent HC winning and receiving the credit than he is about losing with himself in control.

So nothing will change until we are in dire straits again like we were in those 5-11 Dave Campo years or until Jerry is no longer the owner.

What is more laughable is that exact argument is probably going to be used by Jerry Jones to rationalize his retention. Even if Dallas comes out and is stomped Sunday night, it gets compounded by the absence of Romo. He is getting a complete free pass and it is too bad.

Yep, that is why Garrett was saying he felt "fantastic" this week....................I would too if I had botched 2-3 games this year all resulting in losses and found out I got a pass.................I though Garrett was going to start break dancing when the news of Romo being hurt came out.

Cowboys win, Garrett still needs to be gone. The guy has set this team farther back than any coach in history. Jim Zorn would be better than him.
