Garrett-top is Jerruh's hand picked boy. He was groomed, by Jerruh, for this role and will be given every single opportunity to succeed. He will be back next year, regardless of Sunday's outcome.

Now Old Man Kiffin & Callahan are another matter. Jerruh knows he needs to do something to please his sheep. The masses expect a sacrifice of some sorts. Afterall, how will Jerruh blow sunshine & puppydogs up everyone's collective ***** next year if he doesn't have anything to promote "change from the status quo"? Firing his coordinators are perfect ingredients for next year's "secret sauce".

Absolutely. Garrett will return and both coordinators will be gone. Jerry will discuss injuries and how they cost the team three wins and then for the 7,634th time, he will mention the "Denver game" as further proof how close the team is.....Which by the way, was a HOME LOSS. I have never before heard anyone gloat so much over a home loss as Coach Jones does about the "Denver game".

But thats Coach Jones...a world class businessman and a complete loser as an NFL Executive.

Yea, when he said that game was a "moral victory"......................wow.......................I guess all the players got "participation trophies" and ice cream in the lockerroom after the game..................what a joke.............no wonder he likes that idiot Garrett.

Garrett is over his head as an OC, he's way over as a HC. But Jerry likes him and is content with him being the OC with the HC title. Besides, I don't think Jerry wants to go on another coaching search. He's made it known over the years he doesn't want to hire a legit HC.

Jerry really wants to be the HC but knows it's not feasible so he instead hires coordinators but Jerry makes many of the decisions, such as hiring the coordinator on the opposite side of the ball. When you look back at all the HC's Jerry has hired, only Jimmy and Bill had control over their staffs. The rest either inherited the existing staff or Jerry hired the other coordinator for them.

Just look at last year when Jerry hired Kiffin as def. coordinator on the recommendation of Larry Lacewell. And Garrett himself was hired as OC before Wade Phillips was hired as DC/HC. Been this way going back to Switzer, with the one exception of when Parcells was here.

Hate to say it but I think hell will freeze over before Jerry hires another prominent HC and gives him the power/authority to hire his own staff.

I agree, and he was caught on camera phone saying that the only reason he hired Bill was to get the stadium bill to pass, there went his motivation to sign a real head coach.

My thought all along is that Jerry would never admit he was wrong and get rid of Garrett.

Yea...............I think Jerry will put up with 500 records for the next 10 years before he ever admits Garrett has been an abject failure.

Our only chance is that maybe one of these days we will have a roster so stacked that we can win despite Garrett's incompetence.

Denver was a moral victory. Haha. You know those games you win but you really don't.

Jerry is content with the cowboys being "relevant" as long as he gets to play HC

he has made sure of this by locking up a very very good QB in romo and a mediocre spineless HC with goofballs at both co-ordinator positions as convenient patsies

jerry is a football idiot but he is a master at playing the media and the fans

if for some STUPID reason garrett is here next year...if he isnt gone before the 2015 season, I'll find another team.

i know that makes me sound like a fairweather fan...but im tired of being a cowboys fan just because of the "brand" (which coincidentally is what Jerry hopes happens).

In all honesty, Jason has had 2 seasons in a row where our team has been desimated by injuries. He probably deserves one more season.

It is so intellectually insulting to keep hearing this argument as to why he should be retained.

He has not had "devastating injuries". If anything, he was dealt a poor hand by the general manager in terms of depth strength, but that is it.

Here are teams that lost several of their top players/starters for the season and are still right in the middle of the playoff hunt or already in:

New England - Vince Wilfork, Jerod Mayo, Sebastian Vollmer, Rob Gronkowski, Tommy Kelly
Cincinnati - Leon Hall, Geno Atkins, Clint Boling
Denver - Ryan Clady, Kevin Vickerson, Von Miller
Chicago - Henry Melton, Charles Tillman
Green Bay - Aaron Rodgers, Bryan Bulaga, Randall Cobb, Casey Heyward, Jermichael Finlay

If this team somehow makes the playoffs, I will give him a lot more credit for doing that versus coping with injuries all season that practically every single team has to do.

The injury excuse is laughable at this point..................almost year 4 with Opie and he still cant get it done.

What is more laughable is that exact argument is probably going to be used by Jerry Jones to rationalize his retention. Even if Dallas comes out and is stomped Sunday night, it gets compounded by the absence of Romo. He is getting a complete free pass and it is too bad.

There's a story on ESPN about injuries this year, and the basic gist is that injuries are up leaguewide. As Belichick has said, there's a theory that the new CBA that gives the players more time off and easier practices is contributing to this.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10192386/clayton-mailbag-injury-epidemic-ignored

But here's a quick sort of starter games lost this year to injury or suspension:

2013
NYG 87
OAK 78
SD 74
NO 71
ATL 69
SEA 64
NE 62
DEN 61
GB 56
JAX 55
ARZ 54
DAL 53
CAR 52
IND 52
TB 51
CHI 47
PIT 47
HOU 45
MIN 44
SF 42
STL 41
WAS 39
BUF 35
BAL 34
DET 34
CIN 31
MIA 30
PHI 26
TEN 25
CLE 23
KC 21
NYJ 11

So yeah, the idea that we've been especially bad off is just wrong.

you need to open your eyes, because you are missing the improvements, they are right in your face everytime you watch the game. yeah it looks like there is no improvement if you are looking at the record, but the record has not been finalized, even if we do finish 8-8 the offensive line improved greatly over these past 4/5 weeks, heck there was even improvement earlier in the season from the way they were last season. The running game has improved when we do run the ball, the receiving corp has improved even though Miles was his usual hamstung self. The defense unfortunately has been beaten down again by the injury bug, but they are not done yet, they can still continue on redeeming themselves this Sunday after coming up with two stops on the Commanders last Sunday. there has been improvement, you just have to know what you are looking at.

I know what I'm looking at and this team has not improved since Garrett's first 8 games as an interim coach. He has mismanaged way too many games for my liking since. That's why he should go. Freeze your own kicker? Settle for a game ending long FG attempt (vs BAL)? And yes I'm aware of the injuries.

I remember that too. Jerry's lack of desire to win just constantly blows my mind.

If you watch Garrett in PCs this week he is smiling and smug. I don't like it.

It was rather strange when he was grinning from ear to ear to start the Romo injury press conference he was over a half an hour late for.
