Breaking Down Every Single Dak Interception

Please don’t be disingenuous. You absolutely tried to convince if something.

And no - it didn’t work.

How is that? I've been a Dak defender on this forum, yet I've put the blame on him for each interception so far. Walk me through it, what's my hidden agenda?

I'll say this T-RO. I was beyond ready to move on from last season but going back and looking at Dak INTs from last season, I couldn't help but yell out "DAK YOU IDIOT" more than a couple of times. Thanks a lot!!

Lmao.
That was my point as well.
All this does is disappoint you all over again, but here we are.
Marked improvement is all we can hope for.
Hopefully, Big Mike will straighten Dak out.

Interception 05

Not sure how to parse this one. Perhaps Gallup could be blamed for not coming back to the ball. But also true that CB was in great position before the pass, so Dak's read seems questionable.

(I have the advantage of watching the full clips. That's just my best evaluation.)

Every QB has ugly plays.

I'm trying to look at the underlying pathology and dynamics of the worst plays. Doesn't take away the far greater number of good plays.

And it's safe to say...these won't all continue to be Dak's fault.

@T-RO First Assignment Done!!

INTs 1-5 in above Thread

Dak Haters dog ate their remote control :lmao:

I very much welcome opposing opinions, as I'm not fighting for any opinion. Just trying to discover.

And I appreciate Q for adding the video links.

Sometimes there are option routes we don't know about...sometimes a receiver might not do as he's taught. That said, I might not always agree with Dan's conclusions as he might not agree with mine. We aren't privy to coach's Monday film reviews.

The Pattern emerging...IMO

Dak Prescott was forcing plays

Dalton Shultz's was a 50/50 route runner!!

CeeDee route running Improvement elevated to No.1 WR by Seasons end

Gallup should not have been on the field.

Noah Brown stepped up Big Time..forced into No.2 duty.

Interception 06

I blame Lamb here, though db might have got a hand on the ball.

Football is Pain. You must suffer.

The INT's just before half...do you know if we were getting ball back first after half time thus being more aggressive throwing just before half? How many of those INTs were when we got the ball first after half vs not? I dont think it makes that much of a difference if you get ball back first or not...just curious.

Regardless...as another poster has mentioned...its easier to overcome first half mistakes than second half ones. It makes more sense to be aggressive in first half with or without a perfect QB.

Agreed. And I suspect if Dak learns he's got a strong tendency at the end of the first half...he can adjust.

Sure was a strong tendency too! In his 12 games he threw late second quarter interceptions 7 times.

It's interesting to compare what you saw with what BtB saw. On this one, they blamed Dak. I'll be curious to see who you would blame for that 2nd San Fran pick in the playoffs.

It would be interesting to see the live video (maybe I missed it in this thread). Based on where the DB is, it looks like CeeDee almost had to stop running his route to make a play on the ball. The DB appears to be on him like glue but without the benefit of video, hard to tell.

I think QCard may post video link at some point.

Interception 07

Here the savvy Gilmore (our guy now!) anticipates the route and walls off Gallup to make the pic. Yes it's a timing play, so Dak can't be blamed entirely. The issue I'd have with Dak's decision here is that he probably should have noticed that Gilmore clearly had superior leverage. Then again, perhaps Gallup could have done more to pass Gilmore's face?

Maybe seeing additional camera angles would provide more info. It's a bit difficult to grok this play from the image sequences...Perhaps a video will be added.
