The INT's just before half...do you know if we were getting ball back first after half time thus being more aggressive throwing just before half? How many of those INTs were when we got the ball first after half vs not? I dont think it makes that much of a difference if you get ball back first or not...just curious.

Regardless...as another poster has mentioned...its easier to overcome first half mistakes than second half ones. It makes more sense to be aggressive in first half with or without a perfect QB.
This is false. It's not a matter of when. It's how many.

Mistakes in the first half just make the 2nd half harder. It's no better to make mistakes earlier than later.

FYI...this ball is absolutely rifled towards the target.

At first I thought Noah Brown dropped this, but inspecting frame by frame I suspect a Texan managed to get just a fingernail on it. Ball was accurate, read didn't seem egregious. It's football, man. I don't blame Dak for this. You want to tell me what Dak should have done different, I'm all ears.

how many interceptions did the opposing team's defense drop? I think the issue was, fat Mike told dak to take more chances and you've seen the results. I think this year will be similar unless he throws more screens. I believe fat mike didn't like dak being conservative and told him he could live with taking chances and the results.

Get ready for fat Mike to keep asking dak to take chances..
how many passes did the WRs pop up? and can't you make the same argument for every other QB or is it just that the CBs drop Dak's passes?

what this shows is its a pretty crappy play design, when two WRs are in the same area, bringing in 3 defenders. you have to create space with the route combinations to allow the WRs to get open or find open spots.

at least it wasn't 4 WRs running 10 yard curls

Maybe a bit, but more than that it shows a complete lack of trust in your offensive line.

When you commit 6 guys to blocking 4, nobody is ever going to be open.

Yes...sometimes these things just happen. But if I had to sit down with Dak on this one..I;d tell him you gotta not stare down the receiver, you gotta watch the defender get the jump. You and your receiver have to find a spot we can make this connection...and I know that is hard to do, especially for the #4 / #5 WR that can;t get consistent reps.

It looks to me like Dak led him into the defender and Noah didn't really get after that ball and protect it. I'd have to see the video replay to stand by my words. :)

and that's been a point I made before, even in SF game, they rushed with 4 and not only that, they created pressure. if anybody can do that, and drop 7 into coverage, they will have success

here I'll help you out. pretend I'm a dak defender, "It's everybody's fault but dak"

close thread, the interceptions have been figured out.
Well if you look at the weather forecast and the wild fire in California that was going strong that day created additional CO2 in the atmosphere that affected the trajectory of the football. So yea, totally not Daks fault.

Depth of passes intercepted

Short passes..............9
Intermediate passes...2
Deep passes..............4
The stat would be better as a rate than a number.
Also, normalized to the rest of the league.

Looking at those numbers, I'd guess his rate on Deep Passes is actually higher than his rate on Short Passes, but that's probably common.

Short passes require accuracy because you are likely throwing to a player in traffic. Dak isn’t that guy. Throws are always behind or low, forcing the receiver to adjust all the while expecting to get laid out.
Relative to other QBs, I think Dak is relatively worse on short passes than long passes.
He throws a nice deep ball now, but still has poor ball placement on short passes, particularly swing passes to the RBs.
Still, he did largely fix his deep ball accuracy. I would think he could do the same on his short pass accuracy if he made that a focus of his training in the offseason.

Don't have any data on that, but seems true.

I agree.

But I've felt incredibly lazy the last day and a half, and finding that might actually require work. I still gotta finish collecting the plays, categorizing, and tallying.

Agree it's poor design, but I wonder if that's because Dak has a tendency to stare down the receiver and struggles reading a Defense that changes post snap which would be compounded if his reads are both sides of the field.
Limit his options and give him 2 check downs....with CeeDee, Cooks and Pollard's YACability, the WCO is going to help/suit him.
