They ought to look at him. He's an interesting player at a position of need.

If they take him, it better be with a low pick. 4th round is too much risk for a guy like this, no matter what his potential is.

The team that should take Jones is Carolina... and they should do it some time on the third draft day.

I'd rather have the Florida reject who ended up at LA Tech.

It does look like they partied hard after winning the title.

Lacks work ethic, IQ, physical conditioning and mental toughness.

That's the Mount Rushmore of skill sets you don't want your QB to have.

As I said earlier in the draft cycle - Cardale Jones and JaMarcus Russell are the same guy.

Most of the fans who dislike Jones today thought he'd be the #1 overall pick before CFB season started. The Mayocks and Kipers of the world did too.

If he's still hanging around in the middle of day 3, I'm fine with taking him, even if we've already picked up a QB. Like Jimmy taking both Aikman and Walsh, pick QBs until one develops. If it's the most important position, you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket. Go long at QB on the roster for the next few years to have 2-3 competing behind Tony. Don't anoint. Make 'em fight for the spot.

The year the Cowboys drafted Staubach, they also drafted two other QBs - Jerry Rhome and Bill Lothridge. Granted, the draft was 55 rounds back then. Then they drafted a QB the following year 5th overall, Craig Morton. These were all guys taken while Don Meredith was in his mid-to-late 20s.

He's got to drop low enough that his sheer athleticism makes him a value pick.

Really? People love to throw these baseless comments around and hope nobody knows better.

-

25th doesn't scream this guy is going to be the first overall pick to me.

Now McShay released a mock draft about the same time and he does have Jones in the top 10.

http://cowboyszone.com/threads/mcshay-2016-1st-round-mock-5-8-15.322056/

1.. Washington Commanders (5-11) - Christian Hackenberg QB Penn St.
2.. Cleveland Browns (5-11) - Connor Cook QB Michigan St.

6.. Jacksonville Jaguars (6-10) - Vernon Hargreaves CB Florida
7.. New York Jets (6-10) - Cardale Jones QB Ohio St.
8.. St. Louis Rams (6-10) - Duke Williams WR Auburn
9.. Arizona Cardinals (6-10) - Jared Goff QB California
10. Minnesota Vikings (6-10) - Ronnie Stanley T Notre Dame
11. Carolina Panthers (7-9) - Taylor Decker T Ohio St.
12. Chicago Bears (7-9) - Jalen Ramsey S Florida St.
13. San Francisco 49ers (7-9) - Laquon Treadwell WR Mississippi

28. Denver Broncos (10-6) - Scooby Wright ILB Arizona
29. Miami Dolphins (11-5) - Derrick Henry RB Alabama

30. Dallas Cowboys (11-5) - Darron Lee OLB Ohio St.
He was a big-time playmaker for the Buckeyes' defense as a redshirt freshman last season. He lacks ideal size and strength at 6-2, 228, but his combination of athleticism, instincts, savvy and coverage skills is outstanding.

31. New England Patriots (11-5) - Tre'Davious White CB LSU
32. Seattle Seahawks (12-4) - Max Tuerk C/G USC

Other players considered
I couldn't fit these players into the 2016 mock, but all were under consideration:

-- DeForest Buckner, DE, Oregon
-- Tyler Boyd, WR, Pittsburgh
-- Tony Conner, S, Ole Miss
-- Chris Jones, DT, Mississippi State
-- Adolphus Washington, DT, Ohio State

If that's the case, he'll look to ride with his aging, injured QB and will draft pass rushers.

Jerry might have made that mistake but Will McClay (you know, the guy who runs the Cowboys draft even though he is not even in the draft room) is too smart for that

Will McClay will go with oft injured old white QB AND the tall black QB who can run

Completely fool proof
What could possibly go wrong?

I would hope Dallas is looking at every QB in this draft. Jones does not really interest me this much. He was excellent in the final games two years ago but really regressed this year. If you think he can put in the work and be patient while developing, he could be a developmental project. Although I would think someone would take him before I would be willing to.

Jones is a project that some team should (and will) take a chance on in the later rounds.
He's just very raw with not a ton of experience.

The easy comparison is Russell--definitely as far as size and arm strength--but I haven't heard that he's lazy or lacks a love of the game like Russell was accused of.
But as bad as Russell was, he was further along, development-wise, when he came out.
So yeah, Jones is a project. But one with incredible upside 2-3 years from now. Boom/Bust
