BS!!! The only time I will believe he is done, is at the end of the 2010 season and he is still sitting on his couch.

Just because he is not going to training camp does not mean he will come back on week 3 or 4 if the Vikes struggle .

But, really this guy let that organization down...he comes in and has the best statistical year and comes within an impulse throw of going to the Super Bowl. Then he waits till the start of training camp to say his ankle is not responding to treatment? C'mon?!

There is a window of opportunity for Championships in the league and it can close just as fast as it can open. Maybe Rosenfels or Jackson can put on the Kurt Warner suit and drive them to the Championship....

But like I said, I will not believe he is done till the end of the 2k10 season and he is not on the roster.

According to his site, there is no announcement to be made as of today.

I know people hate Favre, as do I, but this is all the media's fault. They totally got this wrong.

IF this is true, then I expect him back soon. Retirements are like injuries for Favre. Expect this one to last say...4 to 6 weeks.

respect him as an all time pro quarterback but in the last four or five years, got really tired of his DIVA attitude of it's always about him...

I'll believe he's retired when they start to shovel dirt on his coffin, because until then, he always changes his mind

If he was really retiring he would come out with an official statement and put out this brush fire.

He's sitting at home at his Ranch watching ESPN news and having a blast.

He can't and he knows it. It's part of the reason he's "retired" (for now). He'll come back in week 4 after the Vikes sputter to a 1-3 start. Come in like a savior and throw the choke INT (again) to end the Vikes chances.

The way the season ended for Favre last year was so fitting. Ending his teams chances exactly the same way he's done for well over a decade. Everyone is all over Favre for being a great QB and iron man, blah, blah, blah. What they all conveniently forget is that Favre has cost his teams more championships than he's won them. It's fitting that the chump's last game of his career ended so eerily similar to the way he's dashed his teams hopes year after year: gunslingin' em to a loss.

This.

Some of my favorite words this last year were "THIS ISN'T Detroit! This is the Super bowl!"

I think he is a great player, respect him as one of the greatest, but these announcements or lack of announcements to the team and coaches is what gets old. It is not his fault that the media blows it all up on the airways all day like ESPN is doing. Be nice if the media waited until something was OFFICIAL.

IF he is retiring he should have decided that long ago when trades were being made. At least have the decency to let the team get prepared for the upcoming season. Vikings could have gone after McNabb, etc. because I don't believe Sage or TJ are taking them to the SB.

I want to play the Vikings with Favre. Would like to see a good game. Was hoping for a Favre sack or two on October 17th.

I'm hoping he'll be back.

As simple, country, and southern as Brett wants you to believe he is. He loves seeing his name all over the TV, he loves text messaging players in the league, and essentially is a borderline egomaniac.

I love the way he plays the game, admire his heart, and he's done something no other player will ever even think about doing.

He just wants people to beg him, text him, call him, etc - he does it every year.

:hammer:

Except remove the word in bold.

The Minneapolis reporter on NFLN just now even suggested that Favre could be waiting until the last second to get, say, 16 million from them instead of the 13 million currently due on his contract. What a great guy.

When he ends charade #1083, I hope Ware and Spencer beat the daylights out of him.

He is just an attention *****. It is beyond "getting old".

Personally, I don't care if he retires. I think he is among many overrated QBs of all time.

I will give him props for his durability in spite of the drugs.

Agreed, SaT.

Why would guys look on this as good news?

I want to beat the best at their best.

No game in the last 20 years has ever been best vs. best. Someone is always injured somewhere. So get that utopian dream out of you head, cause it ain't ever gonna happen.

I think the happiest fans right now are bears fans, i think they have a team with a lot of potential with Urlacher coming back for them and they add the beastly Julius Peppers to make that defense formidable again. Jay Cutler is better than most people are giving him credit for and i think he'll have a much better season.

Before today they had the tough task of competing with both Min AND GB now you tell them all they have to do is get through Green Bay to win the DIV and get to the playoffs? I'll definitely take that.

They can take whatever they want. They aren't getting through GB. Heck, Minny without Favre is still comparable to Chicago.

whatever.

Not buying. He must just be looking for another throw in to whatever he already has, whether its money, perks or whatever.

Commander fans better hope they have a pretty good season this year. I could easily see McNabb leaving to play for Minnesota in 2011 if they don't.
