of course you would, a guy buried on the Raiders depth chart screams talent. If he walks im sure you are impressed. Id sooner roll the dice with AJ Jenkins . He knows the playbook and cost us less. We either wasted time, or have to dump this guy to say no deal, we could play AJ and see what he has. am i impressed with blazing fast. no, dig up Davis and ask him how that worked out. Give me hands and a chain mover any day of the week.

What qualifies you to be more knowledgable than Will McClay? Inquiring minds would like to know.

So it's a definite good thing because someone down the depth chart might flash.

And this is clearly better in our moment of immediate need than making a run at Reggie Wayne.

I'm just pointing out the complete nonsense most fans talk on their team.

Murray is just a guy with this offensive line so we can make do with career backups, but Dez is arguably the best at his position and we're going after some boob from the Raiders depth chart?

I'm in your camp right now. Reggie Wayne would at least be a respectable option here.

Was it Laurent Robinson or Tony Romo... it was Tony Romo...

Yeah but Robinson had Dez and a younger Witten garnering all the attention. This is my point. We have to get through these next 8 games or so without any alpha threat on offense. Our RBs are pitiful and there isn't a WR that threatens anyone. Bring Laurent Robinson into that mix and let me see him put up 11 touchdowns again. It's not happening.

im not even going to defend the points that would take al day to even bring into the pre points that one should even think this was built on the fact thsi guy is going to stick when you put a clause in it of "6 weeks and he has to land on teh roster or no deal" with the knowledge the Raiders dont care SINCE they were about to waive him.

Look... I understand your passion, but Wayne is done... he can't run anymore0... Murray is a fine RB but no Superstar and Dez will be back... in the mean time we need a little sompthin... someone that wants to make a name...

Would someone kindly verify that we gave up a FIFTH for Butler and, if possible, post a source please? Thank you very much.

For what it's worth, my sense is that Jerry thinks this is our year and is going all in. I also think we beat Philly by 7. :)

Really there is nothing but upside here for the Cowboys. We can look at him as much as we want through the bye week, and during that time if we don't think he's going to work out, or a better option pops up, we just cut him and he costs nothing.

If we had waited for the Raiders to cut him, he might have chosen to sign with another team that has better long-term prospects.

eta: This is assuming he is active on the roster...

I find it hard to believe he couldn't come in here and produce as soon as Sunday. The guy's a pro's pro. He can learn the offense on the fly.

Is there a younger Witten? The guy is open all day every day... not sure how he does it...

Pitiful? Did you even watch the game?

Our backs combined for nearly 150 yards of total offense. Witten may be older, but he still garners a lot of respect because he's still one of the best tight ends in the game. Just ask the Giants because they still don't know how to cover him. We've seen what Escobar can do in the red zone. Terrance Williams is a legit deep threat and has been the first two seasons of his career.

who would be scouring for the Raiders throw aways? is the mega talent they toss be afforded by another team? i think we could have hedged our bets he would be free

Witten is as good as he's ever been. He recognizes schemes and exploits them. He's timeless and may be the best that's ever played...

Given the money. I would IR Dez if he isn't ready for playoffs... no need to risk anything...

George Selvie didn't even rise to the level of a Raider Throwaway and Will McClay got us a good season out of him two years ago, when we desperately needed DL. If Butler gives us half of what Selvie did that year (when McClay found him), it will be worth what we paid for him.

We've had some bad luck, but this team is poised to make a push in the playoffs...
