I think JG stays no matter what. He's building a team for the long term. If you bring in a new HC at this time, it's like throwing in the towel, starting over.
At first, I thought he had a 3 year plan, but injuries had derailed that a bit. But long term he has a 5 year plan. The talent level is much better and drafts have been much better. Salary cap & JJ stretched that out to 5 years.
Even though I think the talent level isn't what we keep hearing about. But that's why we post, and not coach or play. But it is better but need better players, depth. As I said, I think he gets one more year to show that.

That was a unique circumstance. That team totally folded mid season.

Even then most of his answers were dodges. He kept saying he would wait until the end of the year to make coaching decisions. It was not an affirmative "there is no way we will fire Wade". The total lack of effort displayed in the GB game forced his hand and he had to act earlier then he otherwise would.
He said he would not fire wade mid season. And he did.

Thing is people act as if it is a Jerry Jones thing yet I have seen many occations where a coach is told their job is safe only to be fired once the season is done. It is not lying to the media it is backing the HC and avoiding the distractions that it would cause. No GM in his right mind would want to make the job harder for his HC by putting a noose around it while the team is still in the running

If we lose three of the next four, Garrett is gone and I think it would be a quick decision from Jerry.

True but then this team is getting healthy right now. Ware claims to be feeling as good as he has at any point with the bye then the long week leading up to this game. Lee is back as well. I don't think Garrett can survive a 3rd season in a row of being at the door and not making it through and I do say this as a guy who is pulling for Garrett

If Lee, Wilcox, Church, Carr, OScan, Durant, Ware, and Hatcher are all healthy then that's not entirely unreasonable. IMO, it's very difficult to play defense with half your front four coming off the street. But that does probably tilt the scale. If they are all back then we may play reasonably well in the RZ. One thing I do think is something Garrett should overcome a bit is the offense could do a little more. But the SC% is improved from last year. It could still be in the low 40s with what we have. I don't give the offense a big pass even though we still don't run the ball effectively on a consistent basis.

Yep it's not uncommon and is exactly what he should do. If JJ comes out publicly saying if JG doesn't get us to the playoffs he's gone, we'd have an even bigger circus at VR

Last 2 games Dallas has ran the ball more and I think that will give Garrett more confidence in the running game to stick with it. Hard to stay with a run when you are not doing it well and get in a position of having to play catch up. Heck you will go to what you do best. My hope is this team and this OL is coming together and gaining confidence to produce a running game they did vs NY and Oakland

No doubt about it if Jerry said this was do or die for Garrett the media would be jumping all over it, back him and support him if he does the job great bring him back if not then look around to see who is out there that you feel can do the job

If the Cowboys were in danger of losing the division to a powerhouse team like Seattle, Garrett would be safe. However, the only remaining challenger for the division crown is the Philadelphia Eagles, a team with a rookie head coach installing a new offensive system and a suspect defense. Any excuses for failure would be highly tenuous.

Posters often use injuries to justify the team's mediocrity under Garrett. That's fine. However, if injuries are a valid reason for failure, the inverse must be true as well; we should expect the Cowboys to win games in which the opponent is hamstrung by injuries.

Tonight is a prime example of this inverse. The Bears are missing their starting quarterback and one of their best defensive players.

I hope and believe we win the east this year, but if we don't, JG has to go. Imagine three straight years of us handing the division on the last game of the year to the three other teams in it. What a nightmare.

I personally think we (and Garrett) are lucky to be in the NFC East. Other than that - I have no earthly idear if Garrett will be back. I know what I think, but that taint matter.

Everyone has injuries but Dallas is getting guys back and Ware at least according to himself is feeling as good as he has all year, we get back a defensive player of the year candidate in Lee. Yes we have some injuries but things are looking better than they have been recently.

I would argue that Philadelphia's defense is a little underrated.

Suspect perhaps, but they are in the middle of the pack in both YPA allowed and passer rating allowed. Which is certainly more then we can say.

Clearly this is the year to win the division. If we do not then I think Jerruh will be thinking long and hard about what to do. Frankly I think 3.5 years is enough when you inherited a Franchise QB and some other talented people.

Considering how many other teams have been turned around in 1 or 2 years, there really is no excuse = and this HC was already on the team and knew the talent. No familiarization time needed. Frankly even the lockout benefited him in some respects since all he could do was examine film and evaluate the players and coaches; nothing else he could do. No distractions. So this team has to be pretty much exactly what he wants as regards personnel. Really there are no excuses; and especially this year when the division is so weak overall.

It sounds stupid that a 7-5 coach is even being discussed with 4 games to go and Broadus just feeds right into it like its normal. In the past coaches keep their jobs by beating division opponents even if the season wasn't great. Something Tom Coughlin is prolly fixin to experience.

I think letting Garrett go if he doesn't get the team to the post-season this year is understandable. Personally, I'd give him another year to try to fix the pass defense again. I think this 2013 team is better than last years, and 2012's team was better than 2011's. As long as we're progressing, I'd give the coach the benefit of the doubt. But I'd understand it if he were let go. Let's hope it's not an issue.
