Broncos game season defining?

I think we've already defined ourselves - our defense is not ready for prime-time. Sean Lee had 15 tackles and 3 assists, but it was his job to cover Gates and he failed miserably, at least on that touchdown. Carter was actually benched for being unable to cover. We either fix our D or we aren't going to do much this year.

That said, on Sunday we play what is probably the best team in the NFL, which has one of the two or three best QB's in history running its offense. The Boys just need to do the best they can, then move on and see if they can win enough games and get their defense fixed in time to play them again in the Super Bowl. If we should happen to win the game, it doesn't change who we are. We have to get better.

added: I forgot, Cowboys 34 Broncos 30, and it's going to take some turnovers to get there.

It means this team is consistently inconsistent and probably means that after a win like they they would turn around and lay a fat turd vs the next team.
There's that term again: "inconsistent". In what way is this team inconsistent? If you assume we're a middle-of-the-pack team, well then, we've beaten who we should beat and lost to other middle-of-the-pack teams on the road. We're doing exactly what middle-of-the-pack teams consistently do. Mostly beat the bad teams and look pretty good doing it, mostly lose to the good teams and look pretty bad doing it, pull off an upset here and there, lose a stinker here and there.

It's no more season-defining than it was last week. It's not rocket surgery. The team must find a way to play better pass defense and score more.

If we're gonna finish 8-8 again, I'd rather just start playing REAL Cowboy football at this game. At least we'd die to a warrior like Peyton. Yesterday was a gut check. Players are confused as to why they're in this position and I have no IDEA how Peyton doesn't eat us alive Sunday. I might not even watch, I'm that nervous about it.

There have also been times when we beat the teams nobody expects us to beat only to lose to a team that we have no business losing to.

There have been many times where you say that they play up or down to the competition.

Not this season, there haven't. (Okay, the Chiefs game looked kinda like that at the time, but it looks much less so now). But if that's the definition, then everybody is inconsistent. The Browns just beat the Bengals. The Lions beat Chicago but lost to Arizona. I don't see how we're more inconsistent than all the other middle-of-the-pack teams.

What others do is no bearing to this team. We are talking about this team and we have a history with this team of being a middle of the road .500 type team. What Cincy or the lions do have nothing to do with this team.

Why must every week be a defining game?

What this game represents is an opportunity to win a game. Nothing more, nothing less.

We are not going to play a finer team all season long. We are not expected to win this game but what if we do? Surely this is the sort of game you can build a season on.

look..
we should have a 3 game lead in the division..maybe 4 right now.

We haven't even played the Iggles, Skins and still have one game with the Jints still to go.

By mid-season we will be 2-3 games behind the division leader and it's going to be game set match.

Same as always.

Not defining but significant.

If Dallas can beat the Broncos on their home turf, then they will slightly prove that they can play well on their own turf, with the home field advantage, against superior competition. If they lose, well, then they are not ready (at this time) to face better competition on any playing field. Its that simple.

It would not shock me in the least to see them come out, play lights out and pull a huge upset. I have seen them do it against Manning and the Colts and Brees and the Saints.

Now even if they do happen to pull out that win. It does not mean a hill of beans. It does not mean we turn the season around and it does not mean it is the last game we win.

It means this team is consistently inconsistent and probably means that after a win like they they would turn around and lay a fat turd vs the next team.

Until we can prove otherwise we are a middle of the road .500 type team.

I agree. Cowboys have jumped up and won games like this before only to turn around and lose. The defining moment for this team is not a single game it is the season itself

Agree. And it will go something like this. The Cowboys will continue to barely tread water (defined as within a game either way of .500) and along the way a key guy will go down for the season. And then, when the season is over we'll hear Jerry say something like "we look back at that injury to __________ as the real season-changer. We were right in it and I believe prepared to make a run, but that injury we just couldnt overcome." And after that we will hear "Jason will be back as head coach, he is really growing in this position and he is going to blossom into a great head coach with a brilliant offensive mind."

It wouldn't shock me if they give the Broncos a game, but if they pull that weak sauce approach against the Broncos that they did against the Chargers and this game will get embarrassing.

It's pretty sad when the opposing QB is a better coach than the guys we pay to coach.

Whoa! That's a pretty strong statement. But one I have to agree with.
Dallas gets a meaningless score late to make the final:
Denver 38
Dallas 17
