What others do is no bearing to this team. We are talking about this team and we have a history with this team of being a middle of the road .500 type team. What Cincy or the lions do have nothing to do with this team.
Huh? We agree that this is a middle of the road .500 type team. You called them inconsistent. They're not (at least not so far this year).

And of course what other teams do have bearing. "Middle of the road" and "inconsistent" only have meaning relative to the rest of the league.

The Bronco's game is meaningless other than a W or L on the record. Winning doesn't prove anything other than our team over-achieved because of the hype and under-dog status (something any of the 32 teams in the NFL are capable of doing). Losing doesn't prove anything other than we were out skilled, out coached, or out executed (which is the case in our games roughly 50-60% of the time).

People always think the next game is season defining. I hate that the team lost, but there's so much football left to be played that I just can't put too much emphasis on a non-conference game.

They need to win, because they need to win. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Well, to be fair, when you're willing to change the definition of your season from week to week, each next game *is* season defining. :)

This week's definition is 'pathetic.' Last weeks was 'contender.' Next week? I'm going to go with 'somebody help me find something worse than pathetic!' or 'Jerry-Jonesesque.' I have decided which one I think is more likely yet.

Agree. And it will go something like this. The Cowboys will continue to barely tread water (defined as within a game either way of .500) and along the way a key guy will go down for the season. And then, when the season is over we'll hear Jerry say something like "we look back at that injury to __________ as the real season-changer. We were right in it and I believe prepared to make a run, but that injury we just couldnt overcome." And after that we will hear "Jason will be back as head coach, he is really growing in this position and he is going to blossom into a great head coach with a brilliant offensive mind."

There you go, see now you don't have to watch the rest of the season since you seem to know how it ends. Myself I'll wait and see how this season plays out.

To me the Commanders game will be define the season. They will either be 3-3 after that game, or 2-4 and pretty much done.

This team is too up and down. I wouldn't be surprised if Dallas beats Denver. We've beaten Peyton Manning twice.
However, a pattern of inconsistency has already been established - win, lose, win, lose ... - so it would be hard to call this a defining movement.
Besides, we have to play New Orleans, Chicago, Green Bay and Detroit. Allf those teams are passing teams who could put a hurting on our defense, based on what the Giants and the Chargers did.
I just have to see more consistency from this team beyond its consistency of being inconsistent.

I also know how every clip of old Three Stooges episodes will end, but it doesnt stop me from watching them. Comedy never gets old.

I pity anyone who has to play against Peyton Mannin in fantasy football this week.

We are not going to play a finer team all season long. We are not expected to win this game but what if we do? Surely this is the sort of game you can build a season on.

Even if we win it somehow, no guarantee we will win the next. no consistency whatsoever

fans need to fast-forward to next week vs Washington. we win that game and we have a strong hold on the division.

just hope to make it out of the Denver game without injury and with dignity.

I appreciate your positive spin. I really and truly do. I wish I could look at so many things in life as you look at this team. I am very serious too.

But...I gotta ask...this isnt the Bengals, Browns, Cardinals, Jaguars....don't you expect and want more out of your team than 2-3 with the hopes of beating Washington to have a "strong hold on the division" at 3-3??

Off topic but I'm guessing Texans fans are ready to a) fire Kubiak b) replace Schaub c) have McNair move the team.

You are correct on 2-of-3. There were calls for backups, Vince Young, fire the GM, fire Kubiak..

No different from here.. Change the name, but the blame game's the same. ;)

This will be Dallas' toughtest test in the early season, but I still feel that the divisional foes and NFC North games are more important atm.
