Broncos mad at Roy

Have any of the people who believe it was a cheap shot ever played football before?

I mean seriously, in about half a second you can't pull up, its impossible. And Roy was looking to WIN what the heck is wrong with that. Ok lets say Smith makes the catch and Roy lets up and all of sudden "holy crap Roy sucks and can't cover."

I just really can't understand ignorant people.

But thats just me.

"Ignorant" is a nicer word then I'd use. But if I used the word I really feel is the appropriate word, I'd be banned.

I can't understand people who don't have the ability to be impartial. You know .. see it from the other guys perspective.

I'm just a guy on a messageboard yapping but are you calling Andy Reid and Mike Shanahan ignorant sport?

I'd love to see that play again on Video..

He was referring to YOU, Chico.

And like I stated before, Ignorant is too nice a word.

This coming from a guy who said this??

Adam's snapshots don't show enough. If anyone has any video of it. I would like to see it again. You guys obviously need to see it again.

I love hitting also and I enjoy watching Williams play but I do believe he's a dirty player. I put him in the same class with Romo without the drugs and Sean Taylor without the guns.

I meant every word of it.

Is there a problem with stating opinions here? This is a messageboard after all.

It was pretty good line, you have to give me that.

Considering you LOWERED Roy into a class with Romanowski and Taylor, I'd say it was a pretty "Ignorant" line.

No, no probs with opinions. Your own view of Roy discredits the ability to be "Impartial" though.

The funny thing is, most of the fans on the Broncos' official message board said it wasn't a late hit and wasn't a dirty play. I've seen more gripes about it from anti-Cowboys fans than from Broncos fans. The few Broncos fans who griped about it were shouted down on their own board.

Just a few of the comments from Broncos fans --

"It was not a cheap shot."

"so...you expect roy williams to not play to his abilities just because it's the probowl? ...it wasn't cheap."

"He played Rod on that play, not the ball. His job is to knock the ball free providing over the top help. You can't ask him to pull up because this is the Pro Bowl. That's how injuries occur. I still didn't like the hit though!"

"rod was still in the air....it was not a cheap shot...stop whining"

"I dont think it was cheap, Williams couldnt see that rod didnt catch it, thats why he hit him so hard, he was trying to knock the ball out, he thought rod caught it and with the game on the line he unloaded, thats exactly what your supposed to do."

"You got that right... I bleed orange and blue and while I am worried about Smith from the hit as a fan. As a former headhunter, that hit was legal, clean and how you play the game. Even if he saw a flicker of the ball possibly bounce away from Smith, he could not stop his momentum, the hit was there, that is football."

"its not dirty playing, it was a clean hit. williams just plays hard like everyplayer should"

Somehow "Owned" just doesn't cover it.

As far as the dirty player tag goes, I went to NFL.com and went through every one of the play by plays from 2002 through last year. Now, if Roy is a dirty player, there should be a plethora of late hit, roughing the passer, unnecessary roughness, facemask, or personal fouls on him, right? Here are the penalties called on him according to the summaries there.

12/12/04 - Saints - Illegal Contact
09/15/03 - Giants - Defensive Pass Interference
09/15/03 - Giants - Defensive Pass Interference
11/23/03 - Panthers - Defensive Pass Interference
10/20/02 - Cardinals - Unnecessary Roughness
11/03/02 - Lions - Personal Foul

Anyone is free to check for themselves. Just got to NFL.com-Teams-Dallas Cowboys-Schedule, select a game, then "Full Play-By-Play". Use the find function in your browser and type in "penalty on Dal".

Playing the game hard does not make a player dirty. There is such a thing as hard hitters who were/are not dirty players.

I remember that game. F'in BS calls. One of them was an OBVIOUS offensive PI on Shockey that they dumb refs decided to call on Roy instead.
