Huh?? who said Detroit was trading their first pick? I said the Bucs will get him..

I know you said that in this thread. But in the other thread where people asked what would anyone do with the first overall pick I said I'd trade it and a 3rd for Jay Cutler and the Bronco's 2nd and then trade Jay back to Detroit. Yeagermeister said this is not Madden and you thanked him agreeing.

Obviously we don't even have a first rounder but Detroit does have the first overall pick and they seem to be the team most empowered to go after Cutler and other bloggers feel the same way. That's why I asked you if this is still Madden talk?

I think the Lions would be stupid not to.

Rather have Cutler than any of the QB prospects in this draft and even the solid OT's. Plus Detroit can probably give Detroit their third and get Denver's 2nd.

Not a bad idea and about even value for both teams. The thing is the Chiefs could have done the deal heads up before and didn't. To me that means they want Cassell and aren't as interested in Cutler.

I know McDaniel discussed all of this earlier with Pioli but the 2 teams are in the same division and that's what had me perplexed to begin with. Teams never trade inter division. I think Detroit front runs this Jay Cutler thing. Washington more so than Tampa.

I think you have to throw the Jets in this mix too. They really don't have a quarterback and openly told Bowlen at the owner's meeting if he trades Cutler they want to be in the mix.

Detroit, Washington, Tampa, and the Jets. My money is on the Jets.

Denver's not gonna trade their franchise QB for the #1 pick in a year without a slam-dunk candidate at the top of the draft. Two #1s from Detroit might get it done.

Can Bowlen get any dumber?

If the situation is beyond repair, you don't announce that to the entire league because now you lose leverage come trade time.

It doesn't take a SWAT team negotiator or Warren Buffet to figure that out.

YAKUZA
and Jerry is the worst GM in the league?

I was thinking the same thing. Your QB is unhappy and hates the new coach, but has been quiet to the media and staying home. The world thinks he's staying, you're going to work out the situation, and he's your guy next year. So in effect the only people who knew he wanted a trade (up until the press release) was you the owner, the coach, the QB, and the agent. Why announce it to the world and throw away all your leverage? I don't get this move at all.

We may jump on jerry for some of his GM moves, but this is one situation Jones would have kept secret to maintain his leverage.

Ohh the Jets are definitely in the mix. In a much earlier post during this thread I outlined 10 teams that would be after him and the Jets were one of them. I think Detroit, Washington, Tampa, Minnesota (who would be a monster with him) and Jets are the 5 front runners.

Detroit probably gets him though. They need a franchise QB, they're tired of missing on QB's and Cutler will fix that. They don't have to pay the 1st overall kings randsom either and can probably throw in their 3rd and get Denvers 2nd.

Denver gets the first overall pick and has the 12th overall. Saves face trading their franchise QB for the first overall pick and can control the draft. Bowlens not worried about the $ as he just paid Shanny a kings randsom for not even working. Bowlen wants to transform the team and get it going again. He would have like to keep the kid but it's irrepairable and he can't can McDaniel, nor does he want to.

They probably think there's more leverage in playing teams off of each other than pretending they don't want to trade him. And I think that would be right.

By the way, Detroit's a bottom feeder and is in the NFC. They would totally rid themselves of the turmoil this ordeal is causing. Extremely important.

Haha! No it isn't? How come? You sure it's not Madden? Watch Cutler and the Broncos 2nd go to Detroit for the 1st overall and Detroit's 3rd.

You're gonna have to give me a cookie and a pat on the back for being right. Actually how about make this trade with me in Madden? Sound good? No, no I got it. you're gonna let me have the dog for a day. Okay?:p:

I would fire McDaniels before I would give away Cutler.

What a dumb move.

If you don't have a Quarterback then now is the time to give up what ever it takes to get Cutler.

Teams like San Fran, The Jets, Lions, Vikings, and Chicago Bears should be all over this one.

That is super funny. The Texans will want him though, at what price though. Schaub is clearly not the answer and Kubiak knows Cutler well. Andre Johnson is a hell of a player to be throwing to also. The Texans are a team on the rise. QB can take them to the next level.

I forgot about Minny, Cutler would be devastating in that offense.

I just don't see Detriot making that move though. Maybe it's their bad trade/draft record. Plus I am not sold on Stafford (and a lot of people are not sold on him). And I wonder how much control Cutler has over the trade. If he says he wants to go to a winning team, then that leaves Detroit out of the mix. It will be a few years before they have a winning team again.

As a matter of fact, I wonder how much control Cutler has over where he wants to go? As messy as this has been thus far, if Detroit gives Denver a silly sick offer (this years pick and next years) and Cutler does not want to go to Detroit, then this could get even more ugly than it is.

The more I think about it though, if I am Minny I do whatever it takes to get Cutler.

Cutler in that offense with their running game instantly makes them an NFC front runner.

Really good vs someone with Superstar potential is the case though.

But if I were a team like Minnesotta Houston wouldn't want to give up the amo I would be willing to give up.

The blood lies on both hands in this one. Cutler is a bit whiney and seems to have thin skin - needs to toughen up. At the same time, McDaniels and the front office created a terrible situation when it slipped that they were trying to acquire Cassel. Loose lips sink ships. Wouldn't you be a little irate if you found out that your employer was trying to find someone to take your job without your knowledge?

Make no mistake, they weren't looking at him as a backup. If they got Cassel, Cutler would have already been on the last train to Clarksville.
