Broncos would pay Romo $10M-$12M with heavy incentives

I understand your logic but for a team like the broncos chiefs or cardinals who are a good QB away from a SB run why throw the dice on a career backup cause he might have a future?

It seems that some NFL get lost in building like their a damn baseball team I'm sorry but these guys retire at earlier ages or are replaced and you lose key pieces sometimes via FA win.. and win now which is how we should be with our defense

They did it last year. Houston went 9-7 without Romo.

Then there is the reality that Dallas may end up cutting him, so some teams might just wait that out and play chicken with the Cowboys.

I just think some of you need to reset your expectations for what a 37 year old QB with an extensive injury history with a big cap hit for the Cowboys is going to net you in a trade.

I don't think pointing out when something is stupid is a waste of time.

Yes he can rework his contract. No i don't believe Ian Henson knows what DEN would be willing to pay, and no I don't believe for a second Clarence Hill knows what Romo might accept, or from whom.

And that desperation is why we're getting a crap ton of picks.

we better hope the cowboys can get some picks for romo. that deal for glennon is insane money. glennon is no better then osweiler of Houston.

The thing about this is, only because Jones and Romo have this great relationship, we will get nothing for Romo. Denver will laugh in our faces next post season when they play in the AFC Championship game with Romo. And they got him for free.

LOL. So what do you want to do with Romo?

If you really want to know, I don't care if he's happy or not, let him sit on the bench til we get a good deal for him.

If we don't get a good deal, then we have the best backup in the league. And guess what, no other team has that advantage. Not like we are going to sign any FAs anyway.

But thats just me.

I'm not releasing him without compensation, that's that.

Can't they rework Romo's deal in a trade? Just swap firsts and you get Romo and let's all move on...

"The Broncos would be willing to pay $10-12 million per season as part of an incentive-heavy deal, KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis said on a recent episode of Denver vs., a new TV show hosted by Mile High Report’s Ian Henson.

“Romo would take that deal,” Clarence Hill Jr. of the Star-Telegram tweeted on Friday evening, referencing the $10-12 million price range."
Can I make suggestion?

This guy was being purely theoretical.

Maybe a title like: "What if Denver was willing to....(fill in blank)......"

His statement was purely theoretical

What do you do when Dak loses a game or two and Romo tells the media and other players in the lockerroom that he would have won the game Dak just lost?

In other words, what are you going to do with Romo if he decides not to be the good soldier this year? What if you get the disgruntled soldier that holds court with the media each day and talks about how much better the team would be with him playing QB?

Example....Dak just lost a Sunday night game to the Giants and Romo says postgame, "Dak choked, I have won my last 5 starts against the G-men and it would have been number 6 tonight if I was under center".

Don't think that cant happen? Are you sure? Can you 100% guarantee that wont happen?

If they plan to start him, he is relatively cheap.
He's also young and healthy.

But like you pointed out...he's like Osweiller...or the least the hope before acquisition is.
Teams make moves for these young guys if they project them to really blossom, but if not, be a solid stop-gap until they find the real franchise guy.
Someone who can hold the fort, but more importantly, might grow into the long term solution.

They too, may be wrong:muttley:

Romo could've done that last year.

Bottom line, he is a player under contract. I do believe Jerry will do right by him, but releasing him just cause he said so is an obvious mistake. When Emmitt held out, we should've just released him right......since he had no value.

Romo has value, to release him would be dumb. If he gets mad, duck tape him to a chair for a month.

Guaranteed! Tony will not be in Dallas next season. Not even ole Jerry boy will keep a 14 million dollar backup QB.

Why not? We aren't spending it to improve the D............ might as well have the best QB2 in the NFL
It certainly should be spent on Defense. Interested to see what the FO does or doesn't do in FA. I am sure they will draft heavy on Defense this year.

Moving up 8 spots in the first round actually does matter...so clearly not all of us are smart o_O

only moving from 28 to 20 isn't much for romo i don't think. maybe that and their 2nd or 3rd round pick.
