Brown's PI or Hold

I don't like Skip Baylee's but watching him this morning, he is reviewing some of the refs calls and he is making some excellent points. Pretty interesting take.
Go Skip go!!

Ball was in the air, therefore pass interference, holding is before the pass was thrown...it was the right call

I thought like the original poster at first blush on the play, that it should be a hold or illegal contact, but on the reply it looks like it occurs just as/after Rodgers release... making it PI as Quest noted...

Please help me understand why Brown's penalty wasn't holding (5yd + 1st down), but PI (1st down and spot foul)?
It WAS a hold as the ball wasn't in the air. Wasscreaming at the TV.

The refs were terrible for both teams would be a better way to put it.

NFL officiating is abysmal.

The Cowboys can't blame yesterday on the refs, but the RDE getting tackled on the final play is sickening, under the circumstances.

It was Crawford I think that was wearing an offensive lineman as a backpack .... Last throw should not have counted

Packer nation defending the last pass play hold call with the Uncalled Mo shirt pull etc etc.........for some reason the TV cam's focused only on Cowboy db's transgressions...........saw a blurry clip of Witten being mugged............gotta be more mugging receivers by the Packers...........oh and I'll add Zeke duck of Clay Matthews to my wish list :)

Listen, of all the calls you can argue about from the game yesterday to argue about, this one is low on the list. The DB made an obvious grab of the WR in front of the referee.

Yes, it was unlikely the WR could get to the ball, however, 9 times out of 10 that's going to get called.

The ball absolutely was not in the air. They showed a replay from the end zone angle and Rodgers was still winding up when the contact was made.

Plus it looked like Rodgers was outside the tackle box, so it was actually not illegal to contact the WR.

You mean unless they do it to Jason Witten on the one yard line? Than it is business as usual.

I don't think it should have been either. I think it should have been illegal contact because he never really got a hold on the receiver, but still hit him after 5 yards. The contact came early in the route before Rodgers released the ball, so it should not have been PI.

Clear hold. Not sure if the ball was released before the hold. That was payback for the non PI call from Detroit in 2014.

Terrible call.

It wasn't PI.
I thought it was holding
And earlier they had called one in GB that I thought was PI
I don't but into conspiracy stuff but we certainly didn't get any close calls
And the butler penalty was just crap

Troy Aikman was exposed on that one, for being anti-Cowboys to show his impartiality. He said it was a "good call" on Anthony Brown. However, the refs admitted that it wasn't a call on Brown at all, but rather on Barry Church, away from the play that Brown was involved in. What's more, Church's play happened 20 yards earlier, and was never replayed. So, Aikman, stop making an effort to prop up the calls against Dallas. You're making stuff up.
If that's the case, then that means the ball wasn't in the air at the time the foul happened which means that should be holding instead of PI. Refs dropped the ball on that one.

It's either an illegal contact or defensive holding. The ball wasn't even released from Rodgers' hand when it happened. It was an awful call in a horribly refereed game.

Rodgers was out of the pocket and still had the ball so contact is allowed

It was an INT that was stolen from us and gave GB the lead and cost us 2 timeouts
