Bryan Broadus should be fired from The Break

That's a good question. He did give Dak credit at times, but he seemed upset that Derek Eagleton was giving him credit. He even put words into Derek's mouth a couple of times. He kept saying Dak made mistakes in every game so maybe it's the annointing oil thing. I haven't heard anybody say that Dak never makes mistakes so I don't know where that comes from.
Very revealing when life happens.

He came on today and said what was bothering him about yesterday and why he got heated.
He was putting on his GM hat and making the case that Jerry has to play Romo to see what
he has to do about the $23mil or so in dead money if Romo can't continue to play well. Brian
wants to know for sure what the decision is on Romo before completely committing to Dak
for this year. There is a decision to be made here and all know it. Jerry will make it
with the help of Jason and Stephen. Dak is certainly the future but, there might be a SB to
be had this year and having Romo in their back pocket if trouble comes could be handy.

Think Ron Leary folks!!!

I didn't listen yet, but even he admitted he got testy, huh? I can't listen/watch until I get home. My favorite Cowboys radio show. Talkin' Cowboys is a close second. I haven't watched that new show with the 4 people yet.

Disrespect for his boss. Most people get fired for that. Saying "I don't care if you get mad" was out of line, IMO. And no it's not about his opinion.

Really? I'm supposed to believe that? I don't care if you get mad gets you fired? They're discussing the QB situation. It's a debate. It's, like, the point of the show.

You can say whatever you want. I know, you know and everyone knows your issue is his opinion and not his conduct. It had to be because he did absolutely nothing wrong there.

I tuned into that monstrosity of a show just to see Broaddus out of line. Can't stand him. Would have loved to have seen it. But all I saw is a guy with an opinion.

That's the problem with shows like that on the team website. It's targeted to the cheerleading fan. You can't really talk honestly in a debate format without offending those fans. So we get what we got here.

The man dared not to kneel at the altar of Dak Prescott. Fire him.

You're wrong. The only reason I even mentioned the subject is because if I hadn't people would've asked what he said. So I told what he said and what Derek said. I've felt this way about Bryan for a long time. My opinion stands. In his mind he is too good for the rest of the crew so he needs to move on or be shown the door. That doesn't mean he has to lose his livelihood. There are many other shows for his skillset like the draft show today. I'm done with it. Peace.

I would suggest avoiding the open debate type shows where people can have opinions that are in direct conflict with current fan sentiment.

You won't get me to defend Broaddus as a personality but he sort of is the most informed voice in that room. By a lot too.

I agree. I don't care for BB's personality but value his informed opinion...even when I disagree.

If he views himself as the only one on the show with a meaningful opinion--I might not agree with him on that...and sure don't agree he should carry himself in a haughty fashion...but I totally see where he's coming from. Broaddus has not only been an NFL scout but a massively successful one at that.

Maybe I'm old school but I do believe in credentials... The man played football in the SEC. He owns a Super Bowl ring and has quite a tenure for some top NFL teams.

Here is Broaddus background:

-------
As Green Bay's college scouting administrator from 1992-97, Broaddus was part of the 1996 Super Bowl champion Packers. He was the first employee hired by general manager Ron Wolf for the college scouting department. (T-RO comment...that was regarded as best scouting group in the business)

After leaving Green Bay, Broaddus was instrumental in running the 1998 NFL Draft for the Philadelphia Eagles. Four of the team's eight selections that season made the 2005 Pro Bowl. Broaddus also worked with the Jacksonville Jaguars before spending six seasons (1999-2004) as the assistant director of pro personnel with the Dallas Cowboys. Among his myriad of duties, Broaddus did advance scouting, wrote reports for free agency, built boards and notebooks for meetings with owner Jerry Jones and was involved in the Cowboys'War Room on draft day as a source of other team's needs and possible trades.

A 1988 graduate of LSU, Broaddus was a varsity letterman in football for the Tigers. He then continued in the college ranks as a graduate assistant recruiting coordinator at Texas A&M.

Broaddus has also done work for 103.3 ESPN Radio in the Fort Worth-Dallas market, providing analysis of the Cowboys as well as being part of the station's coverage of the NASCAR races at Texas Motor Speedway.

Broaddus and his wife, Cathy, have a son: Bennett.

This thread has brought me into an even greater appreciation for Brian. I knew he was a scout but dang I didn't know what a top level scout he was. Like anyone he can be wrong. Even stubbornly wrong. But he comes by his opinions from the inside....deeply understanding the game.

So I again want to thank the OP...maybe Broaddus will get a clue and lighten up...but also thanks to the OP for bringing him into the spotlight.

BB...Interesting former player.... with amazing pedigree in front offices.

I only listen to the audio and didn't pick that up. The show has been good recently, maybe he was having a bad day. Nick and BB are a little to high on Romo right now. They need to reel it in about 25%.

I listened to the audio too and didn't catch that in the slightest. I think he likes to play devils advocate a lot so it's not just an hour of everyone patting each other on the back about how Dak is now football Jesus after half a season

He does have the credentials and experience. Can't argue that. I like credentials too.

Broaddus improved the content at the mothership. I don't always agree with him but at he brings some insight with his scouting background and that was sorely lacking before he got there.

I just watched the podcast of today's show. Broadus was unreasonably argumentative with Derek Eagleton about Dak's performance. He even told Derek "you can get mad if you want to." All Derek was saying was that Dak has been impressive. Broadus kept interrupting him saying "look at the total body of work" (which Derek was IMO). Broadus kept saying that Dak has made mistakes in every game and Derek said that's true of 99% of all QBs. Broadus was being horribly unprofessional to the point where Nick and Taylor weren't their usual playful selves like they were trying to stay out of it. Derek kept drumming his fingers on the desk, but overall he handled it well. As the show went on, Broadus sat there with a sour look on his face, interjecting insightful comments now and then (I'll give him that). When the show ended, he hopped up immediately and walked out. He normally lingers for a little bit, at least longer than that.

In my opinion, Broadus is a short-tempered know-it-all, but today took the cake for me. I have no problem with heated conversation. It makes the show interesting. But I think it's time for Broadus to move on (or be let go) from The Break and stick to the draft shows or fantasy football type stuff. He is such a grump.

Someone said Dak wasn't amazing?! Fire him immediately! Those two fumbles and the very untimely interception he threw were not his fault. If anything we should blame Romo for that. Fire Broadus now. Anyone who doesn't believe that Dak is our Lord in Savior should burn! Burn I tell you!!!!

I was listening to yesterday's ep and I was surprised to hear him suggest a theory some here have posited: Linehan's play-calling may be thriving with Dak because he can't change plays, unlike Romo. Romo may be taking unnecessary risks by doing so, or flat out making the wrong call.

Think Ron Leary folks!!!

Leary is way younger than Romo and not injury prone (knee issue aside). Romo has to prove he can take a hit and get up.

But without Bryant Broaddus, Taylor Stern won't have anybody to steal their opinions and make them seem like she came up with them all by herself.

I was laughing at yesterdays show on her outfit and the overuse of makeup. Too funny.

BB was wrong and still holds the internal belief he's right. He seems to also highly respect Romo. The combination of both is why he is not on the Dak train.

I'm on it because of intangibles more than game film. Dak raises the play of those around him. Guys fight tooth and nail for the guy. As far as mistakes, we've had a decade of Romo mistakes to view.
