Did anyone ever get an explanation on to why they penalized him? I would hope "Throwing up the X" wasn't the case, because they didn't call that in KC.

That rule is stupid. Its not like he is making the move as a malicious action but instead using it to refer to the situation as being over. People in the sports world make that gesture all the time and the fact that it is penalized as if he is referring to an actual throat slit is ridiculous.

But all in all a rule is a rule and he should know not to do that.
NFL has specifically banned throat slash gesture for years now. Bryant should know better. Coaches should make sure he knows better.

It seemed more like when people say "it's over, that's a wrap" gesture to me more than a throat slash. But i'm sure the refs couldnt tell what it was....
