Burger King- Thinks Cowboys will cut TO

Now, for whatever it's worth, I thought Roy Williams11 struggled in Dallas last year. But I still like his talent, and I believe he can and will do more.

I don't know where Jerry and the rest of management comes out on this, but I would be fine with Roy becoming the #1 even after last year. In fact, I feel very confident that an offense that features:
Roy Williams
Jason Witten
Miles Austin
Patrick Crayton
Martellus Bennett
Marion Barber
Felix Jones
Tashard Choice

should be able to score well enough to win. And I think there would be a great intangible value to getting rid of TO.

Roy Williams is a much better player than he showed last year. I don't know whether he will become an elite receiver, but he is much better than what we saw late in the season. Frankly, I'm more concerned about Owens' influence on Williams than I am about Owens' influence on Romo.

He is a very good player, at one time he was a tremendous player. But he is a devisive player on the team and his constant *****ing and groaning about getting more balls thrown his way is a detriment to the offense as a whole.

The worst game Garrett called this yr is a prime example of that. The first Washington game they threw something like 20 passes at TO, all the while he was double or triple covered. Romo ignored other players who were open, and they never called a single offensive play for Felix Jones.

There is ample enough talent at WR w/o Owens, and with him gone there will be more "spread the ball around" which will in turn make the offense more difficult to defend. They also need to use the RB's more, and thats something else Owens will complain about.

How so?

If he's been *****ing and moaning about getting more involved in the offense, there are only two possibilities:

1. Jason Garrett didn't listen. This is the one that is correct, but I'll play along for the sake of argument. If this option is correct, then Owens's complains have basically fallen on deaf ears, considering Owens had his least productive season since 1999 (throwing 2005 out of the equation, when he only played in 7 games and was on pace for career highs in catches and yards). He caught just 69 passes for a little over 1,000 yards and 10 TDs, unacceptable numbers for him.

Or

2. Terrell Owens has fallen off SO much that without an offense designed to get him the ball at its own detriment, he wouldn't even be able to sniff 1,000 yards. If this option is correct, then apparently, after one season (in which he had 81-1355-15 in just 14 1/2 games and was named first-team all-pro), he has fallen off so dramatically that without an offense that is catering to his every demand, he would only be able to manage something like 50-850-6.

Of course, his sprinting up to Felix Jones and running down Nick Collins when blocked to the ground and starting out about 30 yards behind suggest he really hasn't lost much, but I just want to know what YOU think.

Owens's influence on Williams will be to work his tail off until he reaches his potential.

What are YOU worried about?

cause it doesn't let the OC and qb focus completely on the task at hand.

What doesn't?

If Owens is complaining about getting the ball, he's obviously not very animated about it or it would've been caught by the 80 cameras following his every move on Sunday.

When the cameras DO show Owens, he is usually sitting on the bench...or chatting with another skill position player. Once in a blue moon you'd see he and Romo going over something.

There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that Owens has been making a point of complaining about getting the football.

But, as I stated in the previous post, if he has been doing it then Garrett has obviously just been ignoring him. Maybe they'd have more success if they started listening to these hypothetical demands.

I do think Owens is a decent blocker, as wide receivers go. He's no Hines Ward, but he usually makes an effort to create a screen.
When's the last time you saw him lay out a defender the way Sweed did yesterday?

Never.

Which is the point about TO and the team in general. TO's a decent blocker sometimes. Sometimes, he doesn't even try.

You're wasting your time. Some don't want to see it.

Maybe we need Tony to step up and make the best plays. If Toy is such a lightweight, what's to stop the Roy or Crayton from getting all in Romo's head?

End sarcasm
When Roy Williams and/or Patrick Crayton initiate totally unnecessary one-on-one interviews with Deion Sanders, purposely motivate the front office to deactivate him for the season and nix trades with teams they say are desired but wiggle out of because of paperwork snafus...

...then I'll believe they're capable of browbeating Tony Romo. Until then, the likelihood that they could do so is very remote indeed.

That's a possibility, but I'll only believe it when I see it.

Owens initiated the Deion interview? He TOLD Deion to come to his house and interview him?

Well, you got me on that one. ;)

Deion asked him to do the interview; and even though there was absolutely zero necessity in accepting Sander's invitation, the possibility of saying no never occurred to Owens. Touche. :)

I am a Dallas Cowboys fan. I'm concerned about the factors I think could negatively impact the team. You are a San Francisco 49ers fan, and it's understandable you wouldn't share those concerns. I'm surprised you are not discussing on some forum the potential problems between Singletary and his tight end.

Frankly, I would have more time for the opinions of some of the other Owens boosters if they would denounce your attempts, as a self proclaimed 49ers fan, to insult and to demean their fellow Cowboys fans. They can be pro Owens without supporting your style of posting, which is to ridicule and to resort to name calling and juvenile tactics.

As to the question of whether Owens could be near the end, despite his brilliant performance of two years ago, and despite his good, though, poorer 2008 season, please reference the career of Frank Clarke.

Mike Lombardi
Matt Mosley
Ed Werder

You can read Mike Lombardi here or at his website. I think he reported the story first if I recall correctly. He thinks iOwens is gone. He talks about the Garrett/iOwens relationship. He sure is putting his reputation on the line, and he has a solid one from what I'm reading.

http://sportsmediablog.***BANNED-URL***/archives/2009/01/inside-the-nfl-thinks-to-is-go.html

You can read Matt Mosley here. He is thinking iOwens is gone.

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nfceast/0-7-127/Report--T-O--could-be-out-in-Dallas.html

Both reporters, with legit sources, think Owens will be icut.

Mike Lombardi has "sources" inside the NFL. He is a professional. You know what, you tend to lose your "sources" if you identify them. That is why they are protected. They have reasons for not wanting to be identified.

Matt Mosley's Dallas Cowboys connection is well documented.

Ed Werder lives at Valley Ranch, so trying to dismiss all his "sources" is a tough hill to climb. Good luck. The ESPN article was well documented on this site. I read where he talks to John Garrett all the time on the sidelines, and I read it from a credable source who goes to the games, right here on this site.

There is reason to think iOwens is going to be icut. Will it happen? We shall see.

I think he's gone, and I hope he's gone.
