That is silly. Don't sign if you don't like it. I felt the same way about TO when he signed in Philly and then a year later was complaining about the contract. If you don't think the contract is worth it then you are shafting yourself by signing it. It is not the team shafting you if you agree with it.

Not that I disagree, but just to make a point:

Plaxico's agreement may have to been to what he perceived was the total value of the contract.

BTW, TO wasn't the only one that whined. Greg Ellis wasn't happy and he whined and got a new contract.

I will agree with you for the most part. These WR's need to get all the info before the sign. ie. market value, even where they will rank after signing new deal.

Like TO, Plax should be making FAIR Market Value for his WR Play ability/results. Of course TO is much better but Plax gets it done for the most part.

TO and Plax had/have the same gripe. Fair market value at the very least.

It really is not up to the team to give them all the info before the contract is signed. The individual player and his agent should do the work to find out if the contract offers them fair market value. I agree that they deserved to be fairly, but it is up to them to find out what that value is before signing the contract. If they don't now, then don't sign. Find out first and then sign if that criteria is met.

Don't like it, don't sign it. If you want fair market value every year, then sign one year deals each year. The reason you sign long term deals is to get more guaranteed money.

So the choices are:
  • Want the most money every year? Sign one year deals
  • Want the most guaranteed money? Sign a long term deal and expect to not be making fair market value later in your contract.
  • Are you a dumb***, sign a contract for less than fair market value today and hold out before the season starts.

Obviously if this is true, Plax belongs in the last group/choice.

Agreed. Its not up to team to give them the info. I said as much...

But... teams should know that going this route, trying to get the deal... get the player on the cheap WILL bite them in the tookus.

These "situations" are really a product of the NFL and its history with contracts.

Burress should hold his ground and stand up for his contractual demands. He obviously got fooled into signing that first contract a few weeks ago and should make a stand against the oppressive system that took advantage of his limited intelligence, even if he gets suspended for the rest of the year! Make a stand for intelligence impaired people everywhere Plax! ;)

ESPN would have interuppted live coverage of the World Series and done an hour long special on this if you change the involved name to T. Owens.

How right you are.

It would have been one of those 'everybody knows where they were when they heard the news' kind of announcement.

You really think this is the first time?

They "punished" him now because it does not cost them anything to do it.

I don't see why people would expect a team to do something different.

Its a harder punishment for Burress than it is for the team which is how it should be. The rest of the team shouldn't have to suffer because one guy is being punished. Holding him out a week makes a big enough statement and docking two weeks worth of pay backs that up.

Anyone criticizing this move is goofy.

I think it is a fair move and applaud the Giants for doing it.

That and Norm Hitzges, Randy Galloway, and the rest of the DFW media idiots would be going crazy 24/7.

As we all know, neither Norm nor Randy has never liked TO, so they always cherry pick to find faults with him every week.

Have you ever listened to Norm?

He is far from an idiot.

CRAZY is more like it. Even after WINS, he acts like the sky is falling(which makes me wonder if he has multiple accounts here, as after we WIN, 90% of threads here lean on the extreme negative side).

Sometimes his media based need to cause a stir makes him look like one.

I've have listened to him in the past and think he is an idiot. I can't stand him and don't listen to him for a reason. He is not alone. There are a lot of guys I don't listen to for the same reason.

We will see Felix thus far hasn't shown us anything JJ has done for us or could do even the 61 yard run JJ had a 70 yard run against the saints. He was given the chance to start and produce he did rush for 1,000 yards for us and then following that we decided to cut his carries in half in for MB3.

IDK i double checked NFLdraftscout and they said he was the 5th ranked RB I don't recall him not being considered a stud but w.e. I'm still pissed we didn't take Jackson so that draft is a wash IMO.
Odd, I thought you were pissed we didn't go after McFadden.

yeah it's not exactly a huge punishment. They suspended him for a bye week and then a game against a very weak Seattle team.

The point is he is losing his weekly checks. Suspending a guy for games especially when he is a BIG part of your offense hurts the team too. If you can make one a bye week then it doesn't hurt the team as much, but he still loses two checks. (I believe anyhow)

At least Carolina had the cajones to suspend Smith for 2 games.

Was skimming through the Skins boards and reading things about how terrible a teammate and 'Me, me, me' guy T.O. is and then you see things like this with Plax...Kinda comical...People only see what they want to see really.

Shame for the G-Men as Plax is a big part of what they do and try to do although a 2 week suspension when one of those weeks is a bye week does not seem like much.
