Not crazy about his arm tackling. Would rather have someone that can lay the wood down. Coaches have much work to do for this young man.

How many corners "lay the wood down?" Not many. Most just cover and make the occasional tackle for a loss or QB sack. At least the good ones. Don't remember Revis or Deion laying a lot of wood.

He will strike but when it's bang bang you do what you have to. He will hit from what I have seen. I'm just saying that while guys normally can run through arm tackles, he is very strong and was able to stone people doing it the two times I have seen. He does get caught up in trying to push guys around rather than shedding. He was bullying the Michigan receivers.

And I was nit picking. Overall I love the pick.

Well we were not going to trade up too high or take a rushman in the first that is a second/third round talent, so I don't mind the pick. I think it was a need and arguably bpa. And we will have Lawrence a full season and hardy for part and possibly a second day draft pick, so I think the pass rush will be improved.

Any games against real teams?

Michigan was ranked 15th when they played. BSU is one of the better coached schools in the country in my opinion regardless of year to year rank. FSU and ECU are legitimate programs. Sorry but he is not AOA by any stretch.

It's not like he put up Toledo and SW MO State.

I guess if you're not very old, that would be your perspective. I remember cornerbacks laying some folks out in the 80's and 90's. I miss that old bit... he got "jack up!". But football has evolved away from that.

Physical corner that plays sound technique and smart football. Really knows how to sit in the hip pocket of a receiver. Not to mention he is a bizarre freak of an athlete. Seriously, he's probably the best athlete in the entire NFL today.

We needed help in pass defense and Jerry & Co. went out and just got two players that immediately and significantly improve our pass defense.

Very physical.... hands tackler if that's what you mean. What I do love about his game is he can get the ball when it is thrown up and when it is up for grabs. What I don't like is he is not Physical. Not on the LOS, doesn't disengage from blocks well, and definitely not at tackling.

I don't think anyone asks a CB to lay the wood. What we want is some fight which Deion and Revis had. They were very physical to the point that you could even call pass interference on them but couldn't because their IQ technique and fluidity allowed them to stick like glue to the WR they were guarding or break on the ball to make plays. I don't see that with Jones and I feel like there is just something missing even with his crazy athleticism. He may develop it or maybe I haven't seen vidoes of his exceptional coverage skills but I'll root for him to be great and would love to eat crow. Right now, I'm just not that excited as some of you are.

What exactly do folks not understand about Mo and Carr both being gone soon, next year at the latest. Mo because he sucks and Carr because he wears a ski mask to pick up his game checks.

CB was a HUGE NEED..................I got no problem with the pick.

I kind of thought the same thing. I have to trust the Cowboys' braintrust on picking talent, and the war room excitement over the pick was telling, but I didn't see much to rave about in the videos.

Umm.. After watching the "highlights" some really think that he can cover Megatron? I must have seen a different video than those who suggested that. I guess time will tell but on the bright side at least we didn't trade up for him.

I wanted to trade out but corner is a need amd the guy is certainly a specimen. He's athletic and smart whereas Claiborne was athletic but dumb as a rock so I hope he learns the NFL quicker.

I'm not sure Brown fit our defense and Gregory scared the hell out of me so I'm ok with this. Hoping for Jarrett, Cooper or Bennett tomorrow and maybe Clark later. I would not be adverse to seeing them trade a pick from next year to get a second pick in the third.

When I heard our idiot owner say cornerback was the one area they felt they weren't okay with leaving the draft without a significant addition I called it a night.

They still don't know what they don't know.

That statement is not necessarily wrong if that is an exact quote. Yes, they needed a significant addition from this draft since there is practically nothing to pair with Scandrick.

What was the exact quote? If he meant he was not okay leaving the first round without one, then that is a frightening comment.

History will tell you that first round CBs have a fairly high bust ratio. Some of the best in the game were found later in the draft as teams often draft physical attributes over instincts and scheme fit at that position.

Unfortunately Carr and Scandrick have forced them into this position. Corners have become very expensive in free agency and the Jones do not like having Carr tell them he won't take a pay cut. Carr has them by the short hairs and there isn't much they can do about it. I don't have strong feelings either way about Byron Jones. I saw this coming when Jones said they needed secondary help in the draft.

I will take the wait and see approach. I didn't want them committing a 1st round pick to an edge rusher because I believe they will sign Hardy long term and they believe in Demarcus Lawrence.

But I won't be too happy if we open the season with Darren McFadden and the group of underachievers carrying the ball.
