Yep, if he only had a fast 40, it's nothing to really be excited about. A lot of fast corners end up busts. But when you start to factor in that world record, the fact that he's one of the few 3 sigma players (All of them went on to be great, want to know how great? two of them were Calvin Johnson and J.J. Watt.)

Again, I am skeptical about CBs being taken in the first, but anyone who says this is a "horrible pick" is exaggerating and needs to sleep on this before commenting. It's obviously emotion driving them.

I'm not seeing everything @theogt is seeing from what he posted, but saying this guy is horrible or is a bust is pretty asinine.

You don't have to see it, really. Just look at how QBs did throwing his way, the percentages show that he was a shutdown corner in college. We can sit and talk about the level of talent he played, but he didn't make the schedule. Simple fact is, he played at a high level and better than those around him. That's all you can ask in a prospect, you then add his insane combine numbers and that just makes him even more intriguing.

Maybe. I've never seen a UConn game, so all I have to go by are youtube videos with QBs who can't make a 15 yard throw to save their life. Blake Bortels may have been the only NFL QB he saw in his entire career.

Can't imagine he saw much NFL talent in 2013, his last full season:

I'm just going to call you Larry Lacewell.

You know I have to revisit this because in the first video the ECU QB threw downfield a lot with decent touch. The first 3 throws were downfield. Also he was in press man all game long on an island. He gives up two completions on comebacks when the QB had all day for about 20 yards on 8 targets and an interception.

He is inconsistent in his stance but reps will polish that. He has good eye discipline, can turn his hips and stay on the hip pocket easily. He cuts off and dominates inside routes. Physical wrap up tackler.

You haven't even watched the videos have you or are you going to tell me that you watched them and what you got from it was that post? You have a pet cat you didn't get or something?

Doesn't matter who you put in that secondary if the QB has all day to throw. This guy will get the same treatment as Carr when he's getting thrown on due to the fact that we aren't touching the opposing QB.

Cool stuff, bro.

When opposing QBs still have all day to throw, maybe Jones can say to one of the WR's. "Hey, wanna see my broad jump?"

Hopefully that receiver gives an emphatic "Yes" and stops to watch.
I don't subscribe to the "corners don't matter" school of thought -- and it happens that neither do any of the GMs in the NFL.

Maybe you noticed that 5 defensive backs just got drafted in the first round of the NFL draft.

FSU ran inside a lot to a lot of success. You can see him using technique to disengage from blocks, try to rip the ball out, and tackle. He has wide hips for a corner and strikes well.

He saw a lot more zone coverage. He has instincts and ball skills but they are still a work in progress. He is much more instinctive in man. Playing off his timing was off driving on the ball. Still so athletic he is able to make plays. Gave up one completion on a comeback. WR bobbled another comeback and he arrived just in time to pluck it and take it to the house. Tremendous body control and hands. He will try to high point and tip balls.

He doesn't look polished at all to me. Put in KJ tape if you want a polished CB. If Henderson can work his upside, his upside is DMC. He's built like Deion too but I'm not going there beyond that. Lanky mofos.

I don't know about solid.

I cannot even put a tab on him, honestly.

I can tell you with certainty though.

He is not making this defense any better than it was in 2014.

So in essence your opinion is that he's worse than Sterling Moore?

Was impressive against Michigan who was ranked 15. Still late driving deep in cover 3 but demonstrated impressive strength holding off the WR block with one arm to take down the ball carrier for no gain on third and short on a bang bang play. Ran down an end around. in the backfield. Baited the QB into a throw and then used his catchup speed and beat the WR to the catch. His ball skills in man are impressive. WR to this point cannot block him and he is a strong tackler at corner.

Not crazy about his arm tackling. Would rather have someone that can lay the wood down. Coaches have much work to do for this young man.

He will strike but when it's bang bang you do what you have to. He will hit from what I have seen. I'm just saying that while guys normally can run through arm tackles, he is very strong and was able to stone people doing it the two times I have seen. He does get caught up in trying to push guys around rather than shedding. He was bullying the Michigan receivers.
