He looked bad tonight, thought I was watching Mo for a second

I also agree with everyone else, switching positions is stupid. Put him at CB or S and leave him there

I think he'll do fine at both positions. He and White will provide a headache for offenses, trying to parse the role they might be playing on any given nickel or dime defense.

Jones was a mixed bag in the Texans games, some very good plays, then the TD mistake.

This is what rookies do, they are inconsistent and you have to remember he missed some time with his shoulder injury.

Further, the shoulder injury from college also hurt his development as a player, he needs seasoning through experience.

Jones has all the ability and tools, he just needs experience by playing the position.

He will be fine and as others have noted he is not starting for a reason, if we have an injury or poor play elsewhere he will be thrown in the fire.

Jones is going to play regardless and the more experience he gets the better he will be in my book.

The kid has ability and intelligence, including the work ethic to get better.

Well put. The kid will be okay.

I watched 0 moments of this game because nothing in the game means anything. The coaches were undoubtedly looking for specific things from specific guys, but what we saw means nothing. Certainly not from a rookie in the secondary with preseason passrushing

You really shouldn't comment about it if you didn't watch the game. The "preseason passrushing" was pretty damned good. Edwards, Russell, Coleman, Bishop and Gardner all played very well and made it hard on the team in regard to cuts.

Jones wasn't that bad, he gave up a TD where he was in position but looked like he lost track of the ball. He was in good coverage several times.

If Byron took every snap at CB this preseason/training camp I still don't think he'd be any higher on the CB depth chart. The coaching staff was chosen to make calls on the development of all the players and I certainly trust their decision on where to give Byron snaps and experience. He hasn't played 1 regular season game and we're worried about his development. It's going to take time and dude has the skills.

Hated this pick from day one.

Way too many players are passed over because of how fast they can run....how high they can jump...etc...

Agreed....
Not very wise to use a 1st round pick on someone who is "developing".

Called this months before the draft....From every highlight video of him in college he looked lost. And now people are surprised he can't locate the football.....another Cowboyzone shocker  that 90% bought the hype coming from the combine....

Still ticked we passed on Malcolm Brown for this guy

Where do you think Malcom Brown would be on the depth chart? Not picking a fight, I sincerely want your opinion. I'm not sure he'd be making much of an impact. We look pretty stacked along the DL right now.

Byron got caught with his pants down, so to speak. He's still just a rookie and it showed Thurs. He'll have his share of good days and bad ones -- unfortunately, Thurs. night should be classified under the latter category. Whether he's ready for the opener or not remains to be seen. He might do well, then again, perhaps not. He needs time and experience to become a consistent performer. To expect anything more is just premature.

I've had this feeling all along that the guy was just too damn good in every aspect (off the field). When guys workout the way he does and carry themselves as well as he does, it makes one wonder where are the flaws? There has to be some somewheres. I'm concerned it will be in gametime application of said abilities and persona. In other words- doesn't translate to skills.

I think the staff will be careful not to overuse him early-on and increase his workload as his experience dictates.

He was a reasonable pick for a DB at our selection spot not a reach nor a value just like Martin last year.
