I watched 0 moments of this game because nothing in the game means anything. The coaches were undoubtedly looking for specific things from specific guys, but what we saw means nothing. Certainly not from a rookie in the secondary with preseason passrushing

Our preseason pass rush was pretty damn good tonight... Maybe you should have watched.

My problem wasn't with him giving up plays, I get that happens. It's the fact he had trouble locating the ball a few times. We already have enough CBs like that on our team.

But the series before he gave up the TD, he shut his man down 3 plays in a row and was targeted each time. But it was still disappointing to see, I don't think he looks anywhere near first round talent. Each year I'm hating the CB position more and more. Won't be surprised when Patmon goes out there and stinks up the joint either.

Here is the big question:

Would you trade him for Tevin Coleman straight up?

Well, I'm glad that the fourth preseason game in ones rookie season is the point as to which we can declare a draft pick a failure.

I mean, seriously? Things take time to develop. Jones is intelligent, has a good work ethic, and has very good physical tools and athleticism. He missed significant time his senior season, and missed a fair amount of camp as well with shoulder issues. Needless to say, he has some catching up to do.

Playing multiple positions may somewhat stymie his ability to play immediately, but I think it would make him better at both positions ultimately because he will know the defenses and overall positional responsibility better. Also, wasn't this the same guy who had some success matching up with both Dez Bryant and Jason Witten during camp?

Take a breath, guys. Jones will be fine.

I'm sure we can find a few threads with people saying this about Claiborne in the past as well.

We all know cb's are supposed to hold their opposition to zero catches for zero yards. Rookies aren't allowed to struggle. Never ends here. Doom and gloom as usual.

It's the hardest or 2nd hardest position in football.

If he does anything positive this year then that is a great sign for his future.

Corners get abused in this league.. Even the good ones.

Teams throwing the ball 30 and 40+ times a game are going to make plays on guys.

Workout warrior just like some of us said when he was drafted. Hopefully he can turn into something. I wish would could just draft a CB for once who is starter capable.

Jones may end up busting out but it's not unusual for a rookie DB to struggle. As I showed in another thread, many of the rookie DBs taken in the first two rounds are struggling. Even a kid like Waynes who was the first DB taken. Philly is finding that Eric Rowe, another kid that could play S or CB, is also struggling mightily at picking things up. It's a long process.

I wasn't a total fan of the pick but I am not going to throw dirt on his grave either. Frankly, I think they should stick him at FS and just let him grow there.

To be fair rules, most corners face a little bit of a learning curve coming into the NFL. There are very few Revis' running around. I'm willing to give him half a season b4 i start complaining. My take is that just because he is smart enough to learn everything they are throwing at him doesn't mean he has internalized it yet. Let him do that and start playing without having to think so much and then lets see what he's got. Even Woody took a little time and look how that all turned out. He's not ready yet and we should put back the anointing oil, for now, but we do need to give him a little time b4 losing our collective minds.. :D

Fans here overrated him expecting him to start immediately and people forgot he was a project. He's a year or two away from being ready. Like people have stated, there's a reason why he's last on the depth chart and was playing in the 4th quarter of last night's game. He got some meaningful playing time last night. He got worked but the experience is good for him. But he's not nearly as ready as fans thought he was.

PFF, I know, I know.............. have him as the 2nd highest rated first round DB thus far in preseason. Ahead of Peters, Waynes and Johnson. Waynes, actually graded out as one of the three worst preseason rookie performers.................. One of the other worst thus far? The previously mentioned Malcolm Brown who apparently has gotten just beaten up and manhandled in New England.

That being said, PFF gave him their rating largely based off his play in the Minny game, where he played a lot of FS. I think that's his best position.
