Can a First Rounder Supplant Kosier?

If .6 is 300 extra yards..........then your example of a big difference maker at guard is a running back going from 3ypc to 5ypc: THAT IS OVER 1000 YARDS!

that isn't even in the realm of possibilities. Your argument is weak.

look at it like this, hypothetically speaking

Gore is only averaging 3.1 ypc in games played w/o LA in the lineup, but w/ LA in the lineup, he averages 5.4, then I would say, "wow, Gore is a pretty crappy back w/o LA", understand? but a 4.6 yards per carry isn't a crappy average

you do know that Gore had 2 redshirts I believe because of that injury right?

Gore started over Mcgahee at the start of 2002 because Gore was one of the most highly touted backs in recent history. McGahee obviously proved to be the superior back in the long run

he started one year before he became a pro, the year Gore suffered his 2nd ACL tear

Yeah, I understand. My point is that ..... this is not within the realm of possibilities. I will go out on a limb without checking facts and say that no guard in the HISTORY of football has had that kind of effect on a running back.

It just isn't possible that one man on the offensive line can almost double a running backs production. It just seems silly to me.

the only way to truly see how effective Gore was, and who was largely responsible for that, would be to see the adjusted line #s for runs to the left, middle and right

Fair enough. I am done with this topic :) Best of luck.

Dallas runs to the left-side:

in '04, the team averaged 4 yards a carry running to the left-side

in '05, 4.1 ypc

4.9 in '06

to be fair, Gore averaged 5.8 yards a carry running to the left-side, that was the highest average running to any side for him

wow, didn't mean to start such a controversy... i was just curious as to how good these draft prospects were. kosier wasn't the weak link last year, Rivera was. But we have fixed the Rivera problem.

during '03, when Flozell Adams was at his best, Troy Hambrick averaged 3.6 yards per carry running to the left-side

Un-be-lievable

I was thinking a .6 difference for Gore's 20 carry a game average, not .6 for his 313 carries in 16 games, whereas a .6 difference of 20 carries amounts to 12 yards, while over 16 games and 313 carries, that amounts to 188 yards, forgive me

at least it took me but a quick few seconds to recognize my error and fess up to it, as opposed to 15 pages and then months later

because that was "Troy Hambrick"

Bob Sacamano;1435602 said:
exactly

Gore is a pretty good back, and probably would be good w/o LA, just like Hambrick was, and always will be, a horrible starting back, no matter who's blocking for him

i agree but larry allen wasn't the problem on the offensive line in 05'...the problem was the lack of strength from al johnson and the inconsistency of the entire right side of the offensive line...Imagine Flozell, LA, Gurode, Davis and Colombo..that would be DOMINATING...BTW in 04' the OL was actually pretty good considering who was at RB the first half of the year (eddie george) and who was at QB (Vinny)

kosier just seems like the weak link on the OL right now

the left-side was pretty good, but '06's version was better w/ Kosier

and how could the weakest link be anybody but Marco Rivera? not only was he getting pushed back, but he was whiffing on blocks in the running game too

no. i'm the saying kosier is the weakest link AFTER the signing of leonard davis

Oh I have, several times. I'm just dissapointed that you can't acknowledge and learn from your flaws.

You see, the difference between you and me is this: I acknowledge my brain farts and enjoy throwing them around as humor along with everyone else.

You, on the other hand, dig down into a corner, set up a barricade and refuse to let up, no matter how many different ways your argument has been taken apart.

you do? When did you acknowledge that Koy Detmer was the Eagles backup in 2005 not Mike Mcmahon? I showed definitive proof from the eagles own website and you instead of acknowledging how wrong you were that thread just started trying some weak grammar smack and eventually ran off

ah, now you're making sense, but that's not a bad thing since he's pretty good

i'm not saying he's bad...he's definitely servicable but i think LA would be better...the average weight of our line would be ridiculous...

 I'm just gonna stop, it's obvious some people will never be convinced that there are other OGs than Larry Allen, and that we can do just fine w/o him
