Teams with marginal QBs should worry about the back ups. If Romo goes down it's game over so don't sweat it brah.

Sell you on him as a good NFL QB? No

Sell you on him over most teams backups? Yes

List of other teams backups I would take Weeden over

Derek Anderson (Panthers)
Chase Daniel (Chiefs)
Shaun Hill (Vikings)
Matt Hasselbeck (Colts)
Kellen Clemens (Chargers)
Austin Davis (Rams)
Scott Tolzien (Packers)
Bruce Gradkowski (Steelers)
TJ Yates (Falcons)
AJ McCaron (Bengals)
Luke McCown (Saints)
Ryan Nassib (Giants)
Dan Orlovsky (Lions)
Jimmy Clausen (Bears)
Johnny Manziel (Browns)
Blaine Gabbert (49ers)

I would take Weeden without hesitation over all of those guys.. There are also guys who are toss ups that I didn't even include (Tarvaris Jackson, Christian Ponder, ETC.)

Some of those guys are on teams who are consistently good (Colts, Packers, Bengals, Steelers) So it goes to show you that your backup QB pretty much means nothing.

Weeden can get you through a game or two but in general if any teams backup has to play 4+ full games the team is in very bad shape

If he shows a pulse in the Cardinals game, we win that game and most likely finish with a 13-3 record and a #1 seed in the playoffs.

Now the question is, has he shown anything since then that makes you believe he could win a game if Romo is out? The answer is no, he has shown us nothing.

He has been very poor in practice and if he's bad tonight, we need to move quickly to find a replacement.

We learned the hard way last year how one game and can change your entire playoff outlook. Like I said, if he shows a pulse, we beat the Cardinals and get an easier run to the Super Bowl. Why are we taking a chance with him again this year with so much at stake?

Nope, I couldn't & wouldn't sell him to you but, could I give him to you for free? How about taking him off my hands for
a small Coke and bag of Dorritos ?

That loss was not all on Weeden. There were players missing as well as the TEAM just played bad. Didn't Murray also lose another fumble at a critical time in that game.

I grew up on a farm in East Texas.. We had a good John Deere tractor to work the field. We also had a mule and plow. We kept the mule and took good care of it in the event an emergency should arise. However, we prayed "Like Hell" the John Deere tractor never broke down, because we knew we were up **** creek!

I can make a suggestion though. With Romo not playing and Weeden starting tonight's game, I would recommend copious amounts of alcohol and keeping the remote control well out of arm's reach.

It wouldn't hurt to put the dog outside until the game is over either.

Even with all of that, they had a 4th and 1 at the AZ 34 yd line in the 4th quarter on a drive to take the lead and Murray got stuffed for no gain.
Man, we win that game and the rest of the season went the same as last year, the Boys would have been the #1 seed.

Here's my best try.

Who has a good backup in the NFL?

Nobody. Weeden's like all the rest.

Weeden has the arm to do well in this offense
The problem is he doesn't have the ability to read the defense and see the entire field well enough to use the arm he has
They signed him because they seen the potential in his arm but to date his head hasn't caught up to the speed of the nfl

I'm also picking up that the Vaughn criticism of holding onto the ball and being indecisive being attributed to Weeden. Seems we have a whipping boy.

Is Romo's backup any worse than Peyton's, Brady's, Brees', Wilson's, Roethlisberger's, Luck's, Rivers', or Flacco's?

And the way we're built we could win with a guy that is average but we don't even have that.

If the defense was top-five he might (be able to drive the bus) but we don't know how good it will be. Right now he would need a lot of help to win games.

I'm sure there's a few left, like last year, that would still take him over Romo. Many of the same group that begged for Manziel.
ufc, gameover, the Natural, DoubleWing, CowboyStar88, maybe Section 444?....come on down!

They say Manziel is making a strong push over there. Only time will tell.
