Teams with marginal QBs should worry about the back ups. If Romo goes down it's game over so don't sweat it brah.

I just gave you a perfectly good reason why it matters in the OP brah.

One game could be the difference btw homefield throughout the playoffs or a road playoff game in GB.

you've got good memory doggy, although I never ever championed Brandon Weeden

oh yea, @ufcrules1 @Gameover @DOUBLE WING @CowboyStar88 @Section444 he didnt want to tag you guys, come on down.

I still remember that morning before the cardinals game after romo was ruled out. Some people were ecstatic, talking about how Weeden handled the Skins flawlessly, cant wait to watch him today, go ahead and sit romo a couple games,etc..

Take all the NFL teams that actually have franchise QBs and sell me on anyone's backup QB. Most teams that have slightly more hopeful backups have losers at the starting position too.

Who's all that and a stadium dog behind Eli, Peyton, Tom, Ben, Andrew, Joe, Drew, Phillip, Cam, Matt, Matthew, Russell....or even RGIII, Teddy, etc.

It's the way of the NFL...finding one good QB is a major crapshoot---having a great one with a good backup is almost unheard of these days.

Yea I was never a fan of that mindset but I'm sure everyone who thought that way got their wake up call against AZ. I'm right on board with OP and I've said it on another forum that I cant believe we are going into another season with Weeden as the #2

Yep, I feel like I'm arguing with a fencepost every time this comes up.

The only good team at it was Green Bay. During Brett Farve's tenure, they found Mark Brunell, Matt Hasselback, Aaron Brooks, Ty Detmer, and Aaron Rodgers.

He had one bad performance against a top 5 defense when they were at their hottest. It's concerning but not a basis for instant condemnation.

His biggest mistake that day was trying to force it to Dez anyway. No one seems to want to talk about Peterson dominating that day. We love Dez of course.

Yep..

He played good enough to win vs Washington but got yanked by Jerry. Aside from that he's not going to beat many teams above .750, especially those with a Top 5 Defense...

Unlike some others who also didn't want us to burn our 1st rounder on him, I do think he'll stick in the NFL for a good while. He could even be starting by October this year depending on how bad Cleveland is early on.

He might start earlier than that. A clean focus Manziel is what I thought he would be after the draft but it didn't happen. He had go through it to see how he almost wasted a good thing.

If he shows a pulse in the Cardinals game, we win that game and most likely finish with a 13-3 record and a #1 seed in the playoffs.

Now the question is, has he shown anything since then that makes you believe he could win a game if Romo is out? The answer is no, he has shown us nothing.

He has been very poor in practice and if he's bad tonight, we need to move quickly to find a replacement.

We learned the hard way last year how one game and can change your entire playoff outlook. Like I said, if he shows a pulse, we beat the Cardinals and get an easier run to the Super Bowl. Why are we taking a chance with him again this year with so much at stake?

No!

Not sure how this guy is still on our team. Plenty of us fans knew he sucked before we signed him and not surprisingly he sucked after we signed him.

The only positive to to having weeden is no one will ever say lets bench Romo for our backup.

The best way to get a QB is to lose big and draft high like Indianapolis did, acquiring Oliver Luck with the 1st pick in 2007. But, even that is no guarantee as Oakland found out when they were rewarded for their 2-14 season in 2006 with the first pick overall and chose QB Jamarcus Russell.

I hope we can put off "Life After Romo" for as long as possible, but we need to use a top pick on a QB soon, IMO.

Right now I'd take Mike Vick over Weeden. Agree?
