I just gave you a perfectly good reason why it matters in the OP brah.

One game could be the difference btw homefield throughout the playoffs or a road playoff game in GB.

One game can make a difference but it's not like Romo has a long history of decent back ups. Even Orton was a little off. A least you can say Weeden isn't immature.....

Hate? You mean because he couldn't catch a snap and then he tried to bat the ball out of bounds from the middle of the field???? NEGATIVE PLAYS. They cost you games.

He couldn't catch it sure. Nevermind that a few inches to the left and it's at his face. You know where the QB puts his hands out belt high before the snap? That is where it is expected to go. To Weeden's credit, he took responsibility anyway.

FALL ON IT. Throw your body on it.

When the ball came back down the defender was right on him. He was turning trying to locate the ball. When he found it the only play was to swipe at it. it wasn't to try and knock it out of bounds but to knock it away from the defender who was recovering it.

Romo and Rivers would have caught it. Showers would have too fwiw. But please don't let me stand in the way of the apologies.

Apologies to who? You? I don't think in those terms. Sorry.

It was a inaccurate snap. The snap is supposed to be belt level and it was over his shoulder. I try to speak in terms of objective truth as opposed to making it about how I feel slighted.

I thought the throw to Beasley on 3rd and 6 was money. I thought that 17 yard completion to TWill on 3rd and 11 was an excellent throw. His throws were on time, accurate and delivered with authority.

I'm not a Weeden fan by any means but outside of the snap he wasnt ready for the guy was sharp.

You guys are being ridiculous in some of these threads.

As what any smart QB would do, jump on it and make sure you maintain possession. This game was not volleyball.

Regular season game , sure. It wasnt a bobbled snap to just fall on. Everyone was running, he would have had to lunge for it, then get pummled
by the defenders chasing.
I wouldnt want Tony sticking his head in there on a busted play

I can't win you over for one game brosef. He saw a lot of first team practice last year and still blew. You thinking handing off to Murray and slinging it to Dez is optimal for a QB and woof. He should be the poster boy for why "someone saw first round talent in him once " is a completely bollox statement.

LOL please don't compare Weeden to Tony's value to the team. If somehow Weeden falls on it and gets hurt this team won't miss a beat, preseason or regular season. In fact, it would be an added bonus if Weeden gets hurt, giving more playing time to Vaughn and Showers. We'll be in big trouble if we had to rely on the Weed to win games for us. I still remember him single handedly lossing Arizona game. Not wishing that he would get hurt. But he provides very little value to the QB back position. Would rather us take a flyers on both of the youngsters that we have now.

It was the first preseason game, and it was a poor snap with heat on it. Had Romo been in there, I would hope he'd either snag the poor snap (but we've seen him miss them too) or I'd hope Romo would run to the sideline after any fumble or turnover....its freakin' preseason. Only a tool wants a QB sticking his head or arms in there to dive on a loose ball. The guy threw the ball very well...period.

If he shows a pulse in the Cardinals game, we win that game and most likely finish with a 13-3 record and a #1 seed in the playoffs.

Now the question is, has he shown anything since then that makes you believe he could win a game if Romo is out? The answer is no, he has shown us nothing.

He has been very poor in practice and if he's bad tonight, we need to move quickly to find a replacement.

We learned the hard way last year how one game and can change your entire playoff outlook. Like I said, if he shows a pulse, we beat the Cardinals and get an easier run to the Super Bowl. Why are we taking a chance with him again this year with so much at stake?

Weeden is a complete joke of a QB. There seems to be one area in particular where the Cowboys are just dumb. The QB position. They refuse to draft a young guy to develop, Weeden is a complete waste of time and a joke for a backup.

He threw the ball very well, even when under duress.

Weeden has the physical attributes needed. But when you get into a game you can't live off slants and quick passes like you can in preseason. You need to read the defense, and I just don't see any evidence that says he can. That said, I give him credit, other than not catching the snap he looked good.

Be interesting if the Cowboys have had any discussion with Jets about a trade for Weeden. He is better then Matt Flynn, Fitzpatrick, and Bryce Petty. At this point, I would explore a Zach Stacy for Weeden trade

I guess the question to ask is what backup QB in this league do you think could win some games if Romo went down?

Mark Sanchez seems to be one of the more popular names as the best or one of the best backups in the NFL.

You want him?
