So you're actually commending the FO. Rather than keeping Coop and letting Lamb feed off the lesser coverage and then paying him top dollar based on WR2 performance, we've actually promoted him to WR1 and can evaluate him as such.

I agree with all of the comments that mention his hands (and possible dips in concentration) possibly confirm he shouldnt be paid as a top WR....however the greater problem (which may well be beneficial as it wont effect his trade value), is that Dak doesnt get the best out of him and Lambs NEEDS the ball thrown in front of him (on the slant), to benefit from his after catch abilities. Im sure a different QB would get the best out of CD and if we could get a 1st i'd agree get the taxi ready.

As for your comment about Coop....we wanted to free CAP space (along with DLaw's restructure) to sign Randy and possibly put the Offensive onus on the expensive QB.

Great post.....Lamb with a more accurate qb might develop into a darn good max contract WR1. Lamb might want to consider this when his contract is up.

Lamb makes some spectacular catches. He makes catches in traffic. He’s our most dangerous receiver after the catch. He’s 3 games into his 3rd season. He’s always peeking, not to avoid hits, but to make a move and create a big play. Sometimes that costs him a drop, but I think he’ll learn to control that.

All of that said, he’s not the type receiver yet who will defeat double coverage, but how many can?

Drops happen to the best of them and like some have already mentioned, the laugh was probably just his own way of reacting in disbelief.

It’s a team sport Noah Brown has really impressed me and would love to see Jalen Tolbert a premium pick more targeted . Gallups return will be a tremendous boost . Lamb doesn’t really concern me. He’s still developing as a player and (even more so) as a person. I get mad in the moment when I see him smiling after dropping a pass, but my 4 year old does the same thing when he’s in trouble. It’s a natural psychological defense mechanism to ward off embarrassment, especially for someone who’s still working on confidence. I sometimes forget behind the money and fame these guys are young men trying to find their way in the world. Only difference between us and them is they have millions watch them work and yell at them for every mistake they make (myself included). It’s still a business and he has to perform, but he’s still worthy of hanging on to, even if that means as a long term #2 WR

To give us a first for him when he drops the ball so much would be surprising to me. I'd start my offer off at a 3rd! That could turn into a 2nd based on how many catches etc he catches or whatever

He hasn't lived up to the hype maybe he's just always going to be a number 2, he needs someone else to take the pressure off

I will say how he laughed off the drop a gimme to the public was not a fan, maybe some natural bias there, he has yet to prove he was our best receiver, I still don't get the Cooper dilemma besides politics. If he just contributes like he has, I say we trade him and turn the wheel and get a first round cheap wr next year, unless he shows us something substantially more.

It's been 3 games, 2 with a backup QB. Let it play out. Drafting a 1st rd WR isn't the answer either as many take time to develop. As for Cooper, two teams already decided to move on from him, there is something there why they let him go at such a young age. Like Collins, don't think the decision had anything to do with cap concerns, more about their character.

Ceedee has a couple years to clean up his play. He has the talent to be our 88 but he has to clean up the drops.

Bryant’s talent was immediately obvious though, he was just a different caliber athlete than Lamb and was a threat to score every time he touched the ball.

I think Lamb has good body control and smoothness to his game, and if he overcomes these recent drop issues I think he can be a solid WR1, but he’s not the game breaker Bryant was. It’s a little disappointing given the hype he had coming out of Oklahoma, I was definitely expecting a more dynamic athlete.

I agree Dez was different but the point is let the man develop.

Look at the other WRs taken in his class. Outside of Jefferson, which WR has been unquestionably better?

I remember those days. Some wanted to cut Dak especially after that alleged incident with his mom and the fake media reports that haters swore was the truth.

Regardless of the horrible drop, he has now had back-to-back good games.
8 catches, 87 yards, TD last week
7 catches, 75 yards the prior week

Not sure about him eventually being a guy that deserves the huge bucks though.

Lamb has been a borderline bust so far, but I'm not sure any picks we'd get for him would be worth it. We'd MAYBE get a 3rd round pick?... I'd rather keep him and not re-sign him if he doesn't improve dramatically.
