Can we really go into the season with two change of pace backs as our top two runningbacks

Deuce can be the short yardage RB for all I care. I've never seen so many ppl worried about 3 or less yards then here. Screw that Dallas has speed n quickness at RB not some guy who's too slow to even make it thru the hole.

It's not about short yardage. It's about who we lean on if TP goes down. He's not exactly a proven durable work horse. I wouldn't say he's fragile either, just that we don't know.

We did plug and play with Randle, Alf and DMC. The following year we took Zeke. There was and is a difference. I'm not saying there aren't guys out there, just that i don't believe we have one.
We have Pollard. Get back to me if he goes out for an extended period of time.
Yes, having quality backups is important. You know whats more important? Having quality starters.
All this RB talk. This is still a passing league. We have arguably the best WR trio. We have an up and coming TE who I think will shine this year. We have a top 10 OL.
We go as Dak goes. Our season hinges on that. Not our backup RB.

For sure and I'm with you on TP. If he's stays healthy it's all moot.

You don't need one.
Agreed. The entire idea that a team needs a refrigerator at RB to gain a few yards is pretty out of touch with the modern game. By this logic, we all should be dying to get Zeke back on this roster since by the numbers he was one of the most efficient short yardage backs in the entire league last year. If you've got a guy like Derrick Henry who can run power, but also run efficiently that is great but very much an unusual situation.

In my opinion, there is nothing that this group of backs can't do at an NFL-average level at the very least. The RB position will be fine.

Calling Tony pollard a “change of pace” back is kind of disrespectful.

He had 193 Carries for 1000 yards last year. He has close to 800 yards the year prior

Yeah he was the 2nd string RB because the cowboys had Zeke. But If you watched pollard play. You should have seen him show the ability to be a starting RB. Not just a “change of pace” guy.

Deuce has been playing against guys headed towards Home Depot in Sept. Let's keep it in our pants at least until he plays game time against 2nd stringers.

I'm still looking for all of the teams that have this SYB specialist. Regardless:

Bills: 203lb 5'7" singletary and 5'9" 190lb cook
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/buf/2022.htm

Chiefs: 5'10" 216lb Pacheco and 201lb McKinnon
49ers: 205lb McCaffrey and 183lb wilson
Philly: 203lb Scott and 210lb Sanders

I could go on. Basically most good teams have two speed guys. Having 180lb Vaughn and 210lb Pollard is more the rule than the exception. The number of teams who have a 230lb bruiser as one of their two top rushers is really small actually.
B I N G O

No other fanbase cares this much about a “short yardage back”. Any capable RB can pick up a yard if your line does their job. You don’t need to be 235 to gain a yard lol.

Dowdle is 218. Pollard is 218. They are the exact same size. Not sure why everybody thinks Pollard is small. Hes probably right up there size wise with other starting backs across the league.
Pollard is listed at 209 on the Cowboys website. It would not surprise me if they have it wrong but maybe that is why people consider him a smaller back. He also looked a lot more slender next to Zeke.

I think we can find someone in FA if needed. The league is full of steady but slower bruiser backs who can’t find a team anymore.

I mean you would really struggle to make that WR argument. You might be able to argue they are a top 5 group but it’s a big stretch to get beyond that and requires multiple instances of the word “if”.

What does this have to do with WR? WRs are not nearly as plug and play. Nuances in route running. Nuances in plays. In adjustments. And in general its a much harder position to play.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's a little heavier now than that. He was listed at 210 at the combine, but I think he's put on some good weight in his legs and probably his core.

He's a much stronger runner today than he was in his first couple years, and has developed a lot physically. I'd believe it if you told me he was up to 216-218
