too bad he won't get to pick on those crappy teams like Cincy,San Fran,Jax and ATL if he comes here.

He also had a great game against Eli, if we have a guy who can actually take advantage of a QBs mistake instead of batting the ball down or dropping it then that's good enough for me.

If he is released we can sign him for any payment, we release Hamlin and add what 500k a year to the deal and Antrel should take it. So 6m a year, ya he should take it, and jerry should do it.

yeah jerry should do it but nothings 100%. An 6mil is a tad to much. Either way you act like its a given rolle is going to be a cowboy, nothings for sure.

It would be a very logical move to make to increase the coverage ability in the secondary in bringing in a former CB (not a particularly good one but he can play the position) with some ball skills.

It would also definitely free us up a bit more to draft BPA with one less need on the radar.

I don't follow the Cardinals much - is he a good tackler?

Good point, Eskimo.

I'd rather draft an Earl Thomas, Morgan Burnett or Nate Allen than waste the money on Rolle.

please get a deal done with this guy Jerry.. so much speed in our secondary if this were to happen & wouldn't have that liability with Hamlin back there even if he sets up the defense all, all he is good for is helping in zone & not to mention Hamlin getting ran over more than once and mistackles, he can't man up on a guy which means even more blitzes would be happening even if Rolle isn't a great cover guy he still has the speed to stay with guys... Our secondary would be set up for the next 3-4 years, then Mike Hamlin & whoever else could step in. not sure how much Newman has left in the tank.

I dont think theres much drop off in speed between him and hamlin. I would much rather draft a stud in the draft and have the problem solved for 10+ years then sign rolle to a 4 or 5 year contract. There are also many teams in need for a safety, so unless jerry really gives him something appealing (8+mill) I dont think its happening, there are many more desperate teams. And I doubt jerry dumb enough to give that. Its not even 100% that Zonas releasing him.

speed for a CB maybe yeah, but he definitely is better in the speed department, then Ken Hamlin

I doubt we'd make a move for him, unless we are going to release Hamlin. I'd love to have him though. Especially since it would mean we wouldn't have to spend a pick on a safety.

There are other safeties on our roster named Hamlin, and don't forget Ball.

Hamlin is due a salary of almost 6 million this season. I think he'll be released.

I meant Ken, got no beef with Mike and you're preaching to the choir if you think I wouldn't like to see him get some game time.

Jason Garrett isn't going anywhere. He's Jerry's guy through and through - from backup QB to future head coach.

I really hope so.

Well, " technically " he will be an URFA, but it would be because his contract was terminated and not because it expired, which means he doesn't fall under the uncapped year rules.

I know what you meant. I wasn't arguing with you. I was just making a point to ease the FS anxiety.

This.

Rolle has been average in his stint at safety since being moved from cornerback. The fact there might not be a full court press by the Cardinals should tell you a little something and make your Spagnola alarm go off. .

Yea, it tells me that the Crapdinals knew that once Warner decided to call it quits, their contending years were over so they're going into cost cutting mode.

Remember that this uncapped year works MORE for owners than players. Now teams, like the Crapdinals, are going to be able to dump contracts like Rolle's that otherwise ( because of cap reasons or because they were contending ) wouldn't consider. Fitzgerald's contract was much more cost prohibited than Rolle's and they worked it out because the Crapdinals decided to pay him. I know, I know, Fitzgerald is arguably the best receiver in football, but that hasn't stopped the Crapdinals from releasing players before in order to save money.

If my intuition was right, and it's been on the money so far about this uncapped year(s) for the past year or so, Rolle is just the biginning in terms of talent being dumped on the market.

Yesterday I was all gun ho to sign him right away and get him into camp. Today, I'm more of a " let's wait and see what the market dictates ". The reason for that is if/when teams start dumping salaries because there's no cap, the talent is going to far outweight the demand, which means the price for this players are going to drop.

That also means draft picks are going to be at a premium ( because teams doing the dumping, would want the draft picks to replace those expensive players with cheaper ones ), which, if properly maniuplated, the draft could bring back a wealth of future picks and the Cowboys don't REALLY have a glearing need to fill their roster.

Money is the big issue here because no matter what we would upgrade bigtime with him over Hamlin. So do we really save 5 mill if we cut Hamlin? Is that all in cap space?

You're right about the reason, but not right about the particular.

Cutting Hamlin today is about his contract in the future. Like FLO, like T-New, like Barber, that contract is going to be very expensive when the new cap is inserted and those players are going to be too old to be worth it. And believe me, there WILL BE a new salary cap at some point in the future. The question is how restricted is it going to be ?

No sir. An unrestricted Free Agent is one whose contract with a given team has expired.

Sure.

Michael Barrow, LB in 2005. I really had high hopes for that one.
.

I played against him in highschool. Quick story. First play of the game was a 22 lead, meaning right guard ( me ) would check down on the NG, then get the MLB ( Barrow ). Fullback would follow me to clean up Will or Sam ( depending on where the TE was ) and the HB would follow him. Well, first play it worked great, I got to Barrow and hit him blind side as hard as I could. He didn't go anywhere, but the play worked since all I needed to was just a shield for the HB to go through ( nice 22 yards pick up ). He just smiled at me, patted me on the helmet and told me " nice going #60. We'll see each other again. " True enough, in the 2nd quarter the play was called again. This time though, Barrow was ready and he burried his forearm in my facemask.

Suffice to say that when Charles Haley mentions his encounter with former Rams' great Jackie Slater and says Jackie hit him so hard one time that he " saw Jesus " ?... well, I understand EXACTLY what he went through..
