I read recently where SJ stated Michael Hamlin was a guy they really liked. Aren't you an ACC guy? How good was he in college? What do you think are his weaknesses? Or rather, what do you think prevented him from seeing the field last year. I really don't know much about this guy, other than some suggestions that he and Mickens might be draft steals -- and that didn't turn out to well for Mickens.
Well, he broke his wrist, so that is a major reason why he did not play.

I recall before the draft he was considered a three round type of prospect, meaning he could go in that range. I really cannot recall why he was available where we picked him.

It is an intriguing idea, but I think he's going to want a lot of money. If Jerry could get him for a decent cost, I'm all for it. Too often Free Agency equals Too Greedy.

Maybe Michael Irvin can sell him on Dallas.

Bigger problem is we CANT pay the moon for anyone.
I don't know if he'd sign for the salary we have to spend.

Maybe he'd be motivated to knowing Arizona is losing Warner and we are on the rise but I just don't know if the rules will allow us to get him.

I heard they view Michael Hamlin as a strong safety. I kinda like that too because he seems like he would be a heck of a cover guy for a SS.

Mike is actually a better deep guy. He was a playmaker playing off the ball and reading plays. He has great hands.

Not sure he's a good man to man cover guy but he typically played a lot of 'centerfield' at Clemson.

I'd have no issue with having him here instead of Hamlin but I've got a feeling he's going to want a big contract and it's going to be someone else who gives it to him.

Hos, has Jerry ever signed a free agent that went to Da U! ?

I know he hasn't drafted a player from there since Jimmy left.
Sure.

Ryan McNeil, CB, in 2000 comes to mind right away.

Michael Barrow, LB in 2005. I really had high hopes for that one.

There may be others, but off the top of my head I can't think of who they might be. I doubt the school has anything to do with the lack of doing it though. To put it mildly, Hurricane players rarely hit the open market. I'm not a Hurricanes fan so that comment was not biased.

really? he was 34 or 35 at the time. I'm pretty sure that was his last season.

Yeah it was. I just always liked him and thought he was a great veteran presence. Instead he was just a footnote after an injury.

This.

Rolle has been average in his stint at safety since being moved from cornerback. The fact there might not be a full court press by the Cardinals should tell you a little something and make your Spagnola alarm go off. They would much rather let him go than tender him for a year. This means they don't believe he's much better than Rashad Johnson, who they drafted a year ago.

Plus, he could go to Miami (his home) or the Giants for far more money than we could afford due to our final eight status.

The Bidwells are notoriously cheap and with Warner retiring and labor troubles ahead they are probably willing to go with a youth movement and save millions. I think it has far less to do with Rolle's abilities.

Also, we can sign him to any amount since he was waived and not an UFA.

If he is released we can sign him for any payment, we release Hamlin and add what 500k a year to the deal and Antrel should take it. So 6m a year, ya he should take it, and jerry should do it.

OMG after watching that video, if we can't get him and have Jenkins, Rolle, Newman, Sensabaugh, and scandrick in our secondary we'd have the best secondary in the NFL, where are the holes?

We could then focus on OL and then BPA in the draft which would be great.
