He hasn't played well since returning from his injury but man it's crazy what has happened with the chemistry in the locker room the last few games. I'm surprised some people still think Carter is going to be resigned here. He continues to find himself in the doghouse.

Boy do I like to hear that from Jason. I thought Carter was going to be All World and I wasn't alone in that opinion. Why he is up and down is a mystery. You have to want to play well. You have to will it within yourself. Maybe that is his problem. It isn't the lack of tools to do the job.

True.

Bringing an "on-IR" Durant to London tells me the Cowboys would like to have him back next season.

At this juncture I could see the LB corps next season being:

Durant
Lee
McClain
Wilber
Hitchens
"Rookie"

Yeah, I can see that too. And, aside from a few rookie gaffes, I think Hitchens - a highly criticized draft pick - is starting to show signs of being a capable contributor. We're starting to see flashes of what the Cowboys saw when they drafted him.

Its a shame because Carter is an athletic marvel. I'll never forget the image of him running that guy down right before he hurt himself. He was having a great game and his speed was incredible on that play. But he must have other issues because he just keeps finding himself out of favor. I know one thing, him giving up on that sideline catch was a killer.

I would compare Carter's situation to Kevin Burnett. I don't think the coaching staff views him as a very good fit here, therefore he feels slighted by the organization and moves on after the season. He will probably have a similar career too, average.

I just hope Cater gets his head back into the game, when he is playing up to his ability he is a very good player for us. His inconsistency is madding and will likely cost him in the end. For me I’m not even concerned about next season, just concerned with this season and this upcoming game and the Cowboys need Bruce Carter to step up and produce as he is capable of doing

Ick. I don't like that one bit unless "rookie" is a guy who can come in and start. You've got to figure you're going to be without both Lee and Durant at some point. I don't think Hitchens - McClain - Wilber is going to be a very productive.

I think Carter might be making a bigger issue of it than it is. He's coming off injury so that's probably the main reason his time has been limited. He needs to just keep it quiet and play. He has clearly outplayed Wilber at SAM, but needs to get back to the level he was playing at.

That being said, I don't see him being re-signed at this point since Dallas has liked the play of McClain and Durant more and will probably put Lee at WILL next year.

From my experience, handing out playing time based on merit actually leads to a stronger locker room. You may have one guy go to the press, but you can bet the other players in that linebacker group notice, and appreciate their own snaps more when they see Bruce losing his.

It's no great mystery. Bruce is a guy who has a hard time manufacturing his own motivation. He needs to be prodded. I bet he responds to last week by playing better this week and next. I won't make any predictions for him beyond that because it seems like as soon as he starts trying harder, something happens to derail it.

I wouldn't be shocked to see them draft a LB early. They were going to draft Shazier this year if he fell to them.

Carter's frustruations is nothing compared to the frustruations of the fans with his errant, inconsistent ways.
He should half learned the basics early on about tackling. Sometime he seem like he dont know how to tackle, sometime he finger and arm tackles and sometimes he look lost.
Inconsistency is his name.
Dump him. Coach Marinade dont half time to baby players.

Will be disappointing watching him be a pro-bowler next year with the Saints.

Maybe so but it would also be disappointing to pay out big and continue to get inconsistent play. Part of getting a big paycheck is consistency you can't bring it now and then you got to bring in game in and game out. I like Carter but it is frustrating to see his play go up and down like it does. Right now this defense needs him to step it up and do the job and I hope he does. As for next year I’m not even worried about that there is enough to deal with right now

getting playing time is easy. all you have to do is follow your assignments and make plays. carter had some good games early on but other guys are stepping up and making plays. if he wants more playing time then he has to get back to making plays

It sounds like the team needs to purchase the "Change Predictability" trait for Carter followed by more consistency.

He sounds kind of whiny. He even mentioned talking to his mommy about it. Not sure how I feel about that.

Carter?

In the 4 years he has been in the league, other than a half a year in 2012 when he shined before he went on IR, he has never shown himself to be a quality starter.

What is going to change in the hypothetical scenario where he goes to the Saints?
