Carter frustrated with playing time

Carter is an enigma - to everyone. All the physical talent in the world, with a 2 cent brain. I write that as a fan who knows nothing of the guy outside what we see on Sundays, and the little that trickles out from inside Valley Ranch. So I say it very cautiously. (Could be completely wrong) Remember, he did go to North Carolina where they have been having sham classes for2 decades ! Tell me he was not part of that ... His best position by far is strong side LB. I don't think he is cerebral enough to play weakside. Don't think, just react. I do believe he is missing Lee, who he trained with 2 off-seasons ago. And that is part of Lee's impact we are now missing. (another thread some day). With McClain as the middle, and Lee as weakside, and field general, Carter COULD be a perfect strongside. Hitchens will continue to improve and looks like just a natural football player. Durant as a back up, if we can afford both he and Carter, and a draft pick as well and we can have a very solid core of LBer's. Every one is probably right that he won't be re-signed next year, but ******, if he could just get his head around football. He could be our seek and destroy missile, all physical no metal. Line him up, see ball, kill player ! Let Lee and McClain do the thinking, just wind him up ad let him go .....

Yes, Carter is an enema -- he can be a pain in the ***, and even if you're constipated, he'll give you diarrhea.

Oh, enigma......sorry.........yeah, that too.

I don't see Carter back next year and I feel it's that way even if he starts playing extremely well from here on out.

I think the team is going to be much more likely to want to get McClain and Durant resigned and that's going to leave Carter the odd man out at the Linebacker position as far as that goes.

The team will rely on the idea that Lee will comeback healthy and will hopefully, finally, be able to stay that way. I'm not saying this is a good move, the right move, etc but given that they've already resigned Lee long term I'm sure that's going to be the idea.

You'll have Lee, Ro, and Durant starting next year with Ro in the middle.

Don't really want this guy back anyways . Nothing but a guy who plays half speed and complains about not playing .

I think we all agreed in the offseason that Carter would show up this year, since he'll be a free agent. But his unexplained lapses this year and his past history of same will surely get him out the door.

Honestly Bruce I'm frustrated with your playing time also. Not the quantity , it's the quality that frustrates me

I wouldn't be shocked to see them draft a LB early. They were going to draft Shazier this year if he fell to them.

I think it's almost a given we see one drafted in first three rounds.

This is also the second time he has referenced his mother and her advice. I stopped taking advice from my mother when I was 19.

I honestly believe this writer is reusing Carter's quotes from the first time.

All I know is that Carter was significantly better than Wilber earlier in the season, and if he could work back into that form, we'd have a better chance at making a playoff run than we would without him. Can't think about next year at this point, we still have a really good chance of doing something now.

A second round draft pick and 4th year vet complaining about lack of playing time even though a) he has been injured a lot and b) because others are playing better than him :) Anything else to see here?

Amazing all the stuff that starts popping up when you lose a couple of games.

Whether Marinelli likes him or not, the way we've handled Carter is terrible. In his shoes, I wouldn't want to come back here.

More like the way Carter has played has been terrible, relative to his draft position and expectations. He obviously hasn't shown that he can consistently get the job done enough that he deserves more snaps. Looks like he'll have a shot elsewhere next year. On the brighter side, that leave some money for us to sign our other FAs.

I wish they doubled down and drafted telvin smith in the 5th rd instead of Street. But yeah you're right there is going to be a mutual departure with Carter this offseason and they will use one of our first 3 picks on another linebacker.

Lee is a glass man - he is never going to play a full season in this league - never mind have a career.

Probably that isn't debateable.
Probably that isn't debateable either.
Next year will be year 6 for him and his rook contract got extended. That probably qualifies as a career.

Is it alright if I steal this post? I could make it into a song lyric.
