It's actually the other way around, there aren't more college teams running pro style offenses, more NFL teams are willing to adopt college offensive concepts to integrate these young QBs sooner. Teams are using shotgun more than ever before, since most of the young QBs, rarely worked under center, more RPOs, more single reads, more spread offenses etc. QBs that are pro ready coming out of college are few and far between. NFL teams have finally figured out that instead of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, it's easier to make the hole to fit the peg.

The problem is that they need to pay a bunch of people for Dak to be average. Zeke, Cooper, the O-line they all need to be pro-bowl caliber players for Dak to be a decent QB on the field.

If Dak is such a top tier QB then wouldn't Cinci be willing to trade their #1 overall pick tonus for Dak and our 17th pick?

I mean, if he's as all world as we're hearing from his minions I would think this would be a a no brainer for the Bungles. They're getting unquestionably the top FA quarterback available, and easily one of the best QB in the game ( so we're told). They can sign him to a 5 year mega deal at "market value" and shore up the most important position the field for the next half decade. And they still have a mid first round pick they can use to draft Dak a future scapegoat to blame when everything blows up

    Meanwhile we get Joe Burrow.

Hell I'd legitimately throw in our 2nd round pick as well if that's what it would take. With a little seasoning Burrow would be dynamite in our offense and we could have him on a rookie deal and still have tons to spend on defense etc

Pick up the phone Jerry. Cincinnati is just stupid enough to buy the Dak hype.....

    32 million ?

That is far less from the 40 million he made the hold out for .

1 year deal Is fine by me. Don’t mind paying him then 32 mil because he was severely underpaid for being a 4 year starter BUT this should also include drafting and or buying competition.

What? A mind sweep so teams can play Dak Prescott like they did before they had time to study film on him?
Works in the comic books. ;)

    We can probably sign

    Andy Dalton
    +
    Blake Bortles
    +
    1st round QB

For less than the tag value.

Translation: All we need is a Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson level quarterback?

To me, Dak is not a top tier guy, and thus we arent a top tier team. I said last summer that I would in no way sign Dak to a deal and I would let him play this season out and then make a decision. I would again do the same thing for next year, meaning I would in fact franchise tag him. It is worth the 32 million hit to NOT make the wrong move by signing him long term just yet. He played GREAT against all the weak teams, and he played pretty avg against better teams. Avg play is not worthy of a top 5 qb contract..... sorry.

It is in the Cowboys interest to do exactly what they are doing.... waiting this out. Hate the Jones' all you want, but they are not stupid.

The problem is you have to pay him like a top shelf QB to get a long term contract and that destroys the top shelf talent around him plan. It's not hard people. All of the SB contenders and most of the playoff teams have really good QB's. WE DON'T and everyone here has admitted that we don't. All the talent in the world can't makeup for a inaccurate QB that blows reads and checks into bad plays. Couple that with a middle school OC and a WR that seems to not really have the heart for the game and you get a team that can't beat playoff teams, hence his record against such. This team lost to the freaking Jets and our non-divisional schedule the year in the AFC North and NFC North was horrible. We beat the lowly Lions and the Dolphins and didn't look that good doing it. The Rams? Ok but then look at the crap we put on the field the next week when the playoffs were on the line? We offer Dak a middle of the road contract at best...take it or leave it and try the market. He won't like what he finds.

These posters in here make it like finding the next Aikman is just as simple as drafting him...How many high picks have the Browns used on QBs? You ever see when the networks post all of those qbs they have been through since Bernie Kosar? Or how bout the dolphins starting QBs since Marino......... or better yet, how bout the Jets QBs since Joe Namath.lol

If it were so easy, every team would have a HOF qb.

I could not agree more with this post. Who, please tell me WHO is going to give Dak a long term big time contract? You think that a team like the Bengals would have Dak leading them to big wins? More importantly for Dak, you think he would be getting all of these commercials if he were the QB of the Bengals?

If he gets an exclusive franchise tag then the cowboys would be fully going off the rails.

A non exclusive tag would be a mistake unless they think some team is giving up 2 first round picks for him. Otherwise what's the point? To pay a boatload of money for what? He's not turning into Dan Marino anytime soon. Just transition tag him.

That last line is spot on.

With Dak's level of talent, there isn't another team in football where he'd be getting the air time he's getting now

For Pete's sake he's on TV shilling products more than any QB in the league probably including Rodgers and Mahomes. More than even Brady. Chunky soup. Yogurt. Mattresses. Etc. It's ridiculous

And PS Cincy is the one team I think would be stupid enough to try and build a franchise around this guy.

    Other than us, that is

I would have fun creating a ton of QB hate threads with those 2 QBs. I’d make Pappy look like a Dak lover.
