Such an average QB...
Thats the thing is he has a ton of talent around him now and isnt winning anything and its going to be less if he gets a monster contract. The biggest problem I see is that Dak isnt worth the 30+ mil a year but thats how much he wants. If you look at Cousins he isnt worth the money either, and that team hasnt gotten any better since they let Case Keenum walk. NFL QBs are not as hard to find as they used to be. More college teams are running a pro style offense and these college QBs are getting better training and coaching that helps them transition to the NFL. I would much rather have a stacked team on both sides of the ball and a rookie QB than let 3 impact pro bowl players walk and pay Dak.
Such an average QB...
Yup, he doesn't make anyone around him better. The problem is that they need to pay a bunch of people for Dak to be average. Zeke, Cooper, the O-line they all need to be pro-bowl caliber players for Dak to be a decent QB on the field.
No, he's a total imposter of a QB and all Jerry is doing is expanding his mistake when he let Romo walk for this bozo!
What? A mind sweep so teams can play Dak Prescott like they did before they had time to study film on him?Like some have said here and elsewhere, we are stuck with #4. Unless somebody has a really good QB in their back pocket we can use for a year or two.
Perhaps they need to consider going back to what worked his rookie season..........
Translation: All we need is a Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson level quarterback? To win with Dak, you need an all-time great defense. Not just a “championship” one. He’s an anchor on this team. In order to pull it up, everything AND I MEAN EVERYTHING has to be perfect. Example: 2000 Ravens. Perfect WR’s, RB, O-line, Defense, Coaching, etc.
I would gladly take Dalton for 3 years 70 million type deal.We can probably sign
Andy Dalton

Blake Bortles

1st round QB
For less than the tag value.
This is thing about Dak. If you decide to move away from him, you now have to go into QB search mode and that is a daunting difficult task. We were spoiled with Romo and to a degree Dak but for each one of them there are 10 Quincy Carter's. Anyone remember those days? How about some Chad Hutchinson? That gap between Aikman and Romo was brutal.
So you have to ask yourself can you win with Dak if he has top shelf talent around him? Would a better defense and better play calling on offense or just plain better coaching in general make it work?
He's neither as bad or as good as most folks describe on this board, he's probably square in the middle somewhere.
These posters in here make it like finding the next Aikman is just as simple as drafting him...How many high picks have the Browns used on QBs? You ever see when the networks post all of those qbs they have been through since Bernie Kosar? Or how bout the dolphins starting QBs since Marino......... or better yet, how bout the Jets QBs since Joe Namath.lolRomo wasn't a project QB? He was an UFA. Dak was a 4th round pick that nobody saw coming. When is the last time this franchise drafted a blue chip QB not named Aikman?
And furthermore, there is no guarantee that a high pedigree college QB plans out either.
I'm not advocating paying the guy 40 million but this isn't an easy decision by any means.
I could not agree more with this post. Who, please tell me WHO is going to give Dak a long term big time contract? You think that a team like the Bengals would have Dak leading them to big wins? More importantly for Dak, you think he would be getting all of these commercials if he were the QB of the Bengals? The problem is you have to pay him like a top shelf QB to get a long term contract and that destroys the top shelf talent around him plan. It's not hard people. All of the SB contenders and most of the playoff teams have really good QB's. WE DON'T and everyone here has admitted that we don't. All the talent in the world can't makeup for a inaccurate QB that blows reads and checks into bad plays. Couple that with a middle school OC and a WR that seems to not really have the heart for the game and you get a team that can't beat playoff teams, hence his record against such. This team lost to the freaking Jets and our non-divisional schedule the year in the AFC North and NFC North was horrible. We beat the lowly Lions and the Dolphins and didn't look that good doing it. The Rams? Ok but then look at the crap we put on the field the next week when the playoffs were on the line? We offer Dak a middle of the road contract at best...take it or leave it and try the market. He won't like what he finds.

I would have fun creating a ton of QB hate threads with those 2 QBs. I’d make Pappy look like a Dak lover. We can probably sign

I wouldn’t take Opie for vet minimum. He sucks!I would gladly take Dalton for 3 years 70 million type deal.
