Bottomline is it’s actually quite remarkable that we can even field a competitive team.
But it’s how he gets away with it. He didn’t get away with it after three 5-11 seasons .
And why he’s comfortable with where we are at. He knows it could be worse .
He can sell the hell out of 8-8 and better yet 12 win playoff seasons . But 5-11 requires him going outside his comfort zone like with Parcells.
Booger has not changed but he did change out the voices in his ears like Lacewell. He trusts McClay even though he might not follow his board by the numbers.
However, his trust is strongest with the college scouts, not the ones scouting the NFL. That's where his acumen as a GM is questionable, his ability to judge talent already in the league is among the worst of all the GM's, including and most of all, his own players.....Booger's Buds. I believe that's because he does not breathe and live the job, he's too busy quenching his thirst for celebrity.
He really isn't a borderline smart football man because he spends his time trying to impress others with what he's thinking. The smart football men show us by what they are doing. They keep us guessing about what they are thinking.
Are those Rams fans revolting because of the aftermath? Or are they enjoying the fact they finally got a ring? How about the Eagles fans? They win they'll be climbing the light poles again and to hell with the future.
Winning a SB for the fans is all about the now, this very moment in time that they can slow down and absorb. Think the Bills or Vinings fans wouldn't take that for just one moment and to hell with next year?
What Booger is concerned about is staying relevant enough to continue to dominate the media chatter and make himself relevant, it's not about a ring.
