CeeDee or Bust: Cowboys WR situation not likely to improve

Completely guessing, but I think they end up signing Stephon Diggs. Coming off injury he should play for a discount. Probably wont give you elite level production but would still be an upgrade over Cooks, and its a name for Jerry to point to when the fans complain about him not spending money in free agency. Maybe a 2 year/$40M deal with a decent out after year 1 if Diggs doesnt perform?
So management who have made a mantra of saying you don’t sign outside FAs over 30 are not only going to sign one, but also at the worst possible position to sign one (WR) and one coming off an ACL to boot?

Our WR situation is pretty much a one-trick pony with having only Cee Dee as a legit receiver.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be many legitimate options to help alleviate that situation.
We have no WR's on the Roster at the 1b or 2 level. We only have level 3 & 4 currently on the roster.
Should Lamb be unavailable, we have a below avg offense at that point.
There doesn't seem to be many options in FA this year to find a compliment to Cee Dee.
So, expect more of the same this year and pray Cee Dee stays healthy.
WR will most likely be our 1st pick.

if such an obvious situation is not corrected, and it can be.....just look away from it and the harsh reality of the owner/GM spewing some head scratching noise......... and blame our QB. That's what's done on here.

You getting a RB so you ending up with both. Have you seen Hampton run?
We don't need to draft WR in the first round. That would stupid. Dont need in the second either. You dont go for a #2 in the top 20. If you don't have a#1 then you draft high if a stud is there. We have CD. Can get a number 2 in the 3 or 4th round or free agency.

I see it written a lot here that Cooks is gone but I think we need him.
Cooks has had a good career, but its time to move on unless he is OK competing for a rotational role. Since 2020 his numbers have declined every season.

2020 - 4.1 Yards after catch 2.05 Yards/route ran
2021 - 3.9 YAC 1.96 Y/RR
2022 - 3.5 YAC 1.64 Y/RR
2023 - 2.2 YAC 1.19 Y/RR
2024 - 2.2 YAC 0.89 Y/RR

We could argue the Cowboys could look at using him better, Cooper Rush was an issue, etc. but a half decade of declining numbers is tough to ignore that there could be bigger factors in play. Going into his age 32 season its seems unlikely that he makes a sudden jump back up. If there is any sort of market for Cooks in free agency its probably best to let someone else pay for his services. The Cowboys need to target an upgrade.

I'd be interested in seeing what his numbers were like after he came back from injury. Seemed like a different player. I know he's on his way out before long either way but I still feel like they should keep him around until there's a better option. I do have high hopes for Flournoy and another draft pick.

I would bet the farm Jerry drafts a WR in the first or second round. Or, he will sign an aging vet WR to play opposite CeeDee. Or, he will bet on Mingo since he used a 4th round pick on him.

IMO, the Cowboys not very good at developing players. Guys like Tolbert, Flournoy, Brooks, Schoonmaker, and even Luepke are kept on a short lease for too long. All these guys should have been given bigger roles in the game plans last year when it was clear the Cowboys weren't going anywhere.
