Need to trade following guys before Cowboys are forced to cut for nothing:

1. RB Alfred Morris: Not beating DMC for Zeke's leftovers, 3rd string RB needs to play ST

2. KR/Slot Lucky Whitehead: Writing on wall with Switzer pick in 4th round, not a RKG to boot

3. CB Orlando Scandrick: Still very good starter but always nicked up, Lewis/Jones/Brown/Awuzie can all play nickel corner w/o great drop off - was rumored to be on trade block for good reason (3 corners drafted)

4. WR Brice Butler: Great size and speed, but inconsistent, spacey and not good run blocker - work ethic, physicality & penchant for big plays by Ryan Switzer and Noah Brown likely forces him out - Andy Jones also lurking

5. LB/RDE/ST Kyle Wilber: Jack of all trades, master of absolutely none, RKG but faster LB/SS hybrids like Nzeocha, Joe Jones and Luke Wacha plus more real DE options like Benson, Irving, Tank, Taco, Tap, Leslie and Neal finally force out this hard working dude

If Cowboys can get some mid-low picks plus a true pressure player at RDE (aging vet and/or young unknown like Tyrone Holmes) instead of losing these players for nada then I have hope Garrett is finally learning from his mentor, Belichick, about turning over and collecting assets.

Just let those guys play out their contracts and maybe we can get a comp pick for 1 or 2 of them.

Bill would get something for them.
Name some scrub-level players like these that Belichick traded away for decent picks. When he trades guys away, it's usually guys like Jamie Collins or Richard Seymour, and everyone's surprised that they were willing to trade the player.

I don't get the Brice hate at all. I really think fantasy football has really skewed a lot of fans view on players.
It isn't hate..... he is just the 6th or 7th target........ Always Be Churning

Yes, it's weird how fans hate backups that barely play.

Lucky is another that is despised by many but only played a few offensive snaps and had zero competition as a punt returner.

On the flip side many fans love love love players like Dez that suck up tons of cap space but continue to do stupid stuff, fail to show up in many games, can't even stay hydrated, don't understand that catching the ball in a playoff game against Green Bay is more important than scoring a TD and generally are an embarrasment to the Star.

Scandrick is the only one with any chance of having trade value.

Morris: When they say RBs are devalued in the modern NFL, it does not include elite RB like Zeke, but depth type RBs definitely don't have much value. Blocking, receiving and ST are all weak areas for Morris.

McCoy has the 2nd highest cap hit at rb at 7mm. Bell has the highest cap hit on a one year franchise tag deal.

Peterson just signed for 3.5mm. Biggest deal at the position given out last year was to Miller. 4 years 24mm.

Elite rbs to depth types. They're all devalued.

Wilber: Most teams would not pay his salary even if the Cowboys traded him for a Bottle of Johnnie Walker. The base salary follows the player in a trade.
His base is only $1.25
He just doesn't have much value as a player.

Lol @ they can all play slot without much drop off when they haven't played a down in the league.

Dez I'd an embarrassment to the star? Quick tell his teammates the ownership and his coaches. Nobody seems to known this critical information.

I hear you but honestly don't think anyone is trading for any of those guys.

You might get a couple of bottles of this for that entire list.

Fans always want to make trades. We couldn't even get a 7th for Romo, who the hell is giving up something for Whitehead or Butler?

These players will be discarded, if not this season then next. Cowboys are notorious for losing assets for nothing in return during the Jerry only era. Fans have become lockstep in accepting this outcome.
If you consider them as assets why are you so eager to trade them? Fact is (with the exception of scandrick), they are bottom of the roster guys and teams just don't trade for these guys.

Demarcus Ware, Tony Romo, Demarco Murray, Jay Ratliff, Greg Ellis, Terrell Owens, Julius Jones, Marion Barber, Chris Canty, Mike Jenkins, Felix Jones, Terrence Newman, Randal Godfrey, Ron Stone, etc.

There are a ton of first rounders and pro bowlers on that list. If Landry could trade the troubled Sphinx Thomas and Jimmy could trade scrubs like Darrin Nelson then there was a market for above players BEFORE they got to free agency or were just outright released.

Ware - was due far too much money. Romo no one wanted. Murray would have netted a 4th round comp but Hardy offset that - that did allow us to keep the 4th we got for Parnell. Ratliff was a cancer and everyone knew it. Owens and Barber? Totally in decline, had no value. Canty - not a loss when you don't give a rotational player s 40+ mill contact. Jenkins? Again, no value. Tnew? Constantly injured, had no value. Godfrey and Stone ... How on Earth are you linking them to Garrett? Oh, wait, Garrett played with Stone so that must be you angle

I'll keep the depth. Only things I cannot stand are scrubs like Ball or Hayden starting. We have no one like that. Competition in TC is good for morale and such.

Let it roll.

It's easy to sit now and say doing nothing was the right thing to do because there were no options. There are always other options. You just have to get off your ace and make an effort. Doing right by players is nice, but never forget that each player is also a potential asset and assets don't have any value if teams figure out they don't have to negotiate with the owner because he'll eventually let his players go at end of their contracts or release them outright.

Being a Cowboys fan doesn't mean you have to swallow the party line each and every time.
