Chaz Green had hip surgery

RBs selected after Green at pick 91:

95: Matt Jones
106: Jeremy Langford
125: Buck Allen
126: MIke Davis
138: David Cobb
149: Jay Ajayi
155: Karlos Williams
174: Cameron Artis-Payne
205: JOsh Robinson
230: Marcus Murphy
231: Joey Iosefa

That's a good looking list, lot of well known RB's on that list. :omg:

He begs to differ.....

You beat me to it.

it's really lot surprising at all, they are red shirting him. They have plenty of OL depth and don't want to lose a highly thought of draft pick, (at least to the Cowboys). I expect them to add several other young players, with not so major injuries, on IR to stash them away for the future. I think that Green will be put on PUP, and extend him on that list as long as they can, before officially IR'in him.

Yes, now they can put him on the PUP, but have the option to take him off of it anytime during training camp.

If they thought he was a year away from contributing, then this just gives them an extra roster spot.

But very limited in high quality RB's.

Maybe, but we also seem to be very limited in high quality RBs. I'd rather have added another option and see what happens than take an offensive lineman who has struggled with injuries. Take a shot at a position of potential weakness in starting options.

Which I think is a good deal for him. It allows us to keep Gibson and sit him all year. Obviously we wouldn't have gone this way had we known we'd land La'el - but having two developmental linemen is a great situation.

Langford is the guy I wanted. I like Green but more in the 5th-6th round.

I really liked Langford a lot
Thought he was a great fit and a pretty complete back
That said, I trust this group we have in the front office enough to think they may see something in green

If they thought this and still spent the third rounder, they are doing it wrong.

It is not unreasonable at all to expect your third round choice contribute as a rookie.

I know some people are bothered because other players have missed time with injuries, but there is nothing in the report that indicates this could keep him out for more than a bit of training camp. It was a minor issue that he could have played through, but the team wanted to get it fixed so it wouldn't linger. It sounds like he'll be ready to go at some point during training camp. Maybe we should wait before declaring him out for the season?

No big deal. If Weems is as improved as we have been hearing he is the swing. Green would have likely been inactive most weeks anyhow.

Id be surprised if we keep more than 3 backups on game day. And right now that's Mack, Weems and Collins

I'd like to say that I didn't think of you when I posted that... buuuuttt...

BTW, I will be taking down my Aaron Donald FatHead soon. Only 4 more years until he's a free agent and then I can write all offseason about him again.

They didn't know they would have Collins when they drafted Green.

My point was as of right now if Weems or Collins are in the lead as the backup OT, then Green on IR can be a positive.

I think most would like to be optimistic like that however it seems that injuries on this team have a history of lingering and being worse than the original "prognosis"
