Which I think is a good deal for him. It allows us to keep Gibson and sit him all year. Obviously we wouldn't have gone this way had we known we'd land La'el - but having two developmental linemen is a great situation.

Yes, it's borderline to expect a 3rd round OT to be ready to play as a rookie. I like having a developmental player on IR. I'm anxious to see Whaley who was on IR last season. Gardner also.

I hope Green ends up having a nice career.

Definitely wanted us to trade down into the 4th and take a RB with that pick.
Javorious Allen, Jeremy Langford, or Mike Davis...whomever we liked best

The extra 5th rounder would have been nice too.
If not a 3rd rd trade to to get a RB in the early 4th then maybe Clayton Geathers with that 4th and Ajayi in the early 5th. 2 for 1

Long over now though, so good luck Mr Green.

Read Gardner added lots of muscle. He's a high effort guy, so if he's got more of a pro body now, Marinelli is going to love him

Maybe, but we also seem to be very limited in high quality RBs. I'd rather have added another option and see what happens than take an offensive lineman who has struggled with injuries. Take a shot at a position of potential weakness in starting options.

I guess the Cowboys just decided replacing Parnell was filling a bigger area of weakness.

Right. I don't agree with them, but that doesn't mean I'm correct.

I admit that I had concerns whether Weems could handle the backup role, but I didn't feel that was as vital as doing whatever we could to shore up the running back position. That doesn't mean the running backs we have won't succeed, only that there are plenty of reasons why this team should have doubts about it.

Bringing in Buck Allen wouldn't have removed those doubts, just simply have given us another option to throw into the mix, hoping someone will emerge. I probably would have taken Allen in the third rather than Green and possibly taken David Cobb or Jay Ajayi in the fourth instead of Wilson (or traded down with both Cobb and Ajayi available and tried to grab one of the two).

That might seem excessive, but at a skill position where you don't have a clear-cut starter, I don't think there's any such thing as overkill.

If so, fine by me. I think he probably has a better shot at making it. At least he is not injured and constantly unreliable.
When you draft these injury prone players, it should be no surprise when the player's injuries follows him to the pro level. I thought he should have been a late round pick at best , considering that he can't stay on the field.

I recently watched the video of the Drew Pearson draft special and Brady Tinker had an interesting theory. He believed that at two points in this draft, players the Cowboys were targeting were drafted right before their selections.

In the third round, he felt that they planned on drafting Iowa DT Carl Davis. When the Ravens took him the pick before, the Cowboys took Green. In round five, the Cowboys would have taken Jay Ajayi, but the Dolphins surprisingly took him several picks earlier.

Take his opinion for whatever you feel it's worth, but I can see his point.

Thank YOU, Jnday you just summed up the whole problem. People don't want to hear the truth, because they can't handle the truth. :omg:

Sean Lee is a great player that can't be counted on due to injuries. Drafting these injury prone players rarely pays off . Jerry should know that by now.

Difficult to bring an argument to this.

We took the same approach with Bruce Carter.
