Chilling comment from Babe Laufenberg

I believe Laufenberg said last season that the cyst removal was worse than let on and it may effect Romo throughout the year. Still don't know if that was accurate or not, I know a lot of people say different things.

A really poor man's Andrew Luck. He'll be decent, but there are four QBs in this draft that I'd take ahead of him.

He has the prototypical size and skills you want in a QB, but he's not very special. He reminds me of Jake Locker.

And yet ALL scouts, for the most part, have him as either the best or second best QB in the draft, despite this "concern", so what does that tell you?

Most QB's are tall because of this ancient theory of what the "prototypical pocket passer" is supposed to be. That mold is being shattered by guys like Drew Brees, Russell Wilson and now Johnny Manziel. BTW, it's more of a three quarters release, not "sidearmed".

The NFL is a different game than it was when everyone was looking for the next Drew Bledsoe. Perhaps you should get up to date with the times. From where I sit, there is no evidence that I've ever seen that links height to an inability to produce in the NFL. Russell Wilson and Drew Brees hardly ever get passes batted down. They hardly ever have trouble getting it over the offensive line. This is such a tired, lazy argument that it's no surprise Laufenberg is making it. Unfortunately you've now lumped yourself in with an idiot like him. Good luck with that.

QBs are no longer all that tall and this thinking was based upon 1980 style football.

Doug Flutie was 5'10"....

5'10 and 6'1" and are not even close to the same thing.

This is a really poor point man just let it go.

No first round quarterback no matter the name.

You draft as if Romo is fully healthy this season and if he doesn't last you take your lumps and draft a QB next season.

And if his back is really that big a concern you hope a guard is there in round 1 or 2 that can start.

That will also help your future QB.

No disrespect, but you cannot say that you have watched any of Blake Bortles' games if you are saying that. I would take Manziel over Bortles, but Blake was straight money under pressure and in crunch time.
 
I am so tired of people talking about the dark days ahead if Romo is done. What days have been bright in the past 3-4 years? Three straight years of 8-8 and crapping the bed in week 17 with a playoff birth on the line equals dark days in my book. People act as if the NFL has made a rule against Dallas acquiring a good QB when Romo is done. Its simply ridiculous. The Cowboys will go on after Romo and they will find another QB in the draft. So what if they will stink even worse for a few years. That's what happens when you move on from a franchise QB to a young guy unless you're lucky enough to be in a position to draft a guy who is ready to play right away. If they draft a QB tonight or tomorrow, I'll be fine with it because it means either Romo is nearly done because of his back issues or they have finally had enough of him. If its his back, that sucks but if its the other, I say "its about time"!

Yeah, the average fan on this forum would probably not know that, but talking heads really started to take notice after Penn State and especially after Louisville.
 
Picking Johnny football will tear this team apart even if he is a decent football player. Dallas will never make a serious playoff run while under that type of controversy.

Having two QBs is having no QB.

What controversy? The better player starts, the other one sits. I know that is a bit of a foreign concept given how our team has been run over the last several years. If Manziel is better he'll play, if not he'll sit and learn under Romo and Garrett.

Oh god, that last sentence sounds frightening.

And if he is close with them and they have shared info in confidence with him, he would not come on the air and spill it, especially right before the draft. This is nothing more that conjecture and his wondering aloud on the radio. If he actually knew something and blabbed it on air, he wouldn't be close with anyone on the team any longer.
 
Hey, have any of you guys heard this rumor that the Cowboys might be interested in Manziel? Not sure if there's anything to it, but this guy I know who does Garrett's nails said something about it...

Bortles talk dropped dramatically with soft games versus SMU and USF that hurt UCF in the rankings.

The bowl game versus Baylor put him back on the map tho he did throw two more picks.

He needs some development to be sure.
 
There is no chance Manziel is going to be a Cowboy, thankfully. Romo is a great quarterback and to say differently means you are not paying attention. This team has many flaws and problems, but Romo is not one of them. If the Cowboys drafted a quarterback I would be good with Aaron Murray in the 3rd.

What if his back is fine? Are you willing to throw away this draft and many drafts of the future for one QB who may or may not be good? I would rather build the team to help out the current QB.
 
Another board said that Bortles is actually their top QB on their board, not Manziel.
