This is stupid. What about the games we won. There was a game plan there and took advantage of the mis matches.

Our 8 wins are against the Jags (1-10), Titans (2-9), Giants twice (3-8), Saints (4-7), Rams (4-7), Texans (5-6), and Seahawks (7-4). This pattern of beating bad teams has been played out for the past few seasons. I thought maybe we turned a corner with wins against the Seahawks and NO but that pattern from past years remains the same.

Hey normally I'd laugh at those who bought into this team once again, but I admit that 6-1 start sucked me in too.

Whenever I think I'm out, they pull me back in.

6-1 had me a believer. I can at least admit to getting duped.

jason garrett is a con-artist. he has conned a lot of you into thinking it's normal for this process to take this long. meanwhile the rest of the league continues to pass us by with less than half the time that has been afforded to this man. if we don't make the playoffs this year after all the good vibes from the first half of the season, he needs to be canned.

Jason Garrett is not a con artist. The multi-year "process" line was invented by his supporters to justify the state of the team year after year. Garrett is what he is, a young and inexperienced HC who was hired because he fit into Jerry's comfort zone. When that is the primary criteria for hiring your HC, you're bound to fail.

Stop with the Garrett nonsense. You're a diehard fan of this team. You have a brain. You know damn right well what is killing this team. Garrett is a symptom. The disease is named Jones.

While I agree with Jerry being the main culprit, this doesn't excuse Garrett. We could do better at the HC position. You've walked this line on Garrett for some time now. His game day weaknesses have been well documented. That has nothing to do with Jerry other than he used the wrong criteria to pick his HC. If Garrett were a HC of another team, these same flaws would be on display because they're grounded in his lack of coaching experience, not Jones.

But it doesn't cure you.

How many head coaches do we need to go through before you guys realize the head coach in Dallas is set up to fail? That maybe you should stop blaming the powerless puppet and start focusing on the guy who actually created all this mess? What? Because he can't be replaced we should pretend he's not the issue?

Blaming Garrett is weak, lazy and a cop out. The #1 reason the Cowboys have been a dead franchise for too many years is Jerry Jones. The #2 reason is his fat son Stephen Jones. All other issues pale in comparison. This team lacks talent over half of it's roster (where are all the Anthony Hitchens haters at now?!?!) and is surrounded by a circus sideshow atmosphere with no discipline.

I refuse to waste my time blaming any of these coaches for doing exactly what every other coach has done since Jerry lost his mind and took a strangle hold on this team. Which is fail.

Same script. Same movie. The actors won't change anything. We need a new writer and director.

Well said. Proof will come in a few weeks when their out of the playoffs, and Harbaugh might be available ... any owner who would want to turn around this franchise would go after Harbaugh and offer him the world and put it in writing that you'll stay out of his way ... not gonna happen. I think Jerruh is happy with Garret because his yes man at least keeps the team looking competitive until it counts. Nothing will change until he's looking out of his suite and sees only 40000 at the game.

I don't think this team was ready. They only hahad 2 days to get ready really. Coming off a Sunday night away game against a rival team that always plays close then having to fly across the country to get ready for a battle on thursday vs another division rival.

We just need to get refocused and ready for the bears on thursday night and then we should be ready after 10 days off for the eagles.

I think the hot seahawks will win next Sunday vs the Eagles and then we will beat the bears and eagles. That will give us a 1 game lead with 2 games to go.

Like the positive attitude. Hope you are right.

I believe this post is premature. Let us at least play the Eagles again before you start with this type of post. We played our first stinker in about 10 weeks. It happens to every team.

Unfortunately it happened in this last game. I expect us to turn around and beat Chicago and have 10 days to prepare for philly this time. They will get our A game this next time and not our D+ game.

Have a little faith everyone who is jumping ship. Everyone pointing to Chip Kelly beating bad teams without his qb and injured OL should be giving Garrett props for getting to 8-8 with an injury ravaged defense and having us within a Kitna int of winning the division...

We will find out pretty quick on Thursday in Chicago what the state of the team is. The Cowboys could quit but I don't think they will. It's a gut check for them and I'm anxious to see how they respond. The Eagles got embarrassed in Green Bay and bounced back pretty well and we could do the same. Those mighty Packers barely beat the Vikings after that. We shouldn't have been but it was pretty obvious the defense was running on fumes from the very start and with a ten day break I don't think that will happen the second time.

We were fortunate to play Seattle and NO at a time when they were decidedly sub-par.

chip kelly in 2 years implemented a system that can succeed despite mark sanchez at the helm and multiple injuries to the offensive line. his system takes the pressure off the personnel and puts it on him to make i work.

jason garrett has been here for 7 years and still has a system that requires ultra-talented players at nearly every position (which is why the defense is constantly ignored) and puts immense pressure on the personnel to win their individual matchups. if there are any injuries or if one or two players play bad, all is lost. nothing is done to gameplan against individual teams and their weaknesses and nothing is done to create mismatches to help the personnel succeed in their on-on-one matchups.

jason garrett is a con-artist. he has conned a lot of you into thinking it's normal for this process to take this long. meanwhile the rest of the league continues to pass us by with less than half the time that has been afforded to this man. if we don't make the playoffs this year after all the good vibes from the first half of the season, he needs to be canned.

Where was the GREAT Chip Kelly offense against Green Bay?? Do us a favor and don't just walk to the ledge, jump off.

Mark Sanchez isn't as bad as everybody seems to think. He was in a horrible situation in New York. It's honestly not surprising to see him string together some good games.. he's much more talented as a passer than people give him credit for.

Chip Kelly deserves credit as well. The Eagles seem legit.

Phillies staff goes from one great coach to the next. Although they still have no RINGS, haha, this team looks deadly. It's like this new offensive innovative scheme that teams will have to figure out completely. When that happens, it's back to the basics. But maybe Chip is on to something, either way, it seemed like we were children amongst men out there.

You really can't compare Chip and Jason. It is like comparing a Ferrari and a Ford work truck.

Chip has over 20 years experience as a professional coach. He has success at each level and quickly moved up the ranks. He is a singular focused guy that won't leave any stone unturned in order to win...reminds me a lot of Johnson in that way.

Jason has 7 years total coaching experience and all of it on the offensive side. He lacks experience in general and isn't very innovative or very hungry to win at all costs. He reminds me of a senior level manager type that has a good desk job and won't rock the boat.

Kelly is a much better coach than Garrett. There's always excuses to be made, but that's what the evidence says right now.

I see what Garrett is trying to do here. I grasp the logic behind it. He wants a simple offense because a simple offense is a portable offense; it can win anywhere--much like the 90s Cowboys teams. Such an offense requires a high level of talent to function effectively week in and week out.

Unfortunately, in the modern, parity-driven NFL, such offenses aren't feasible anymore.

I don't buy that. This offense has been pretty effective all season long it's the exception of a couple games. Something that can be said about every team this season.

Yep. Jason is staying because he makes it comfortable for Jerry to be the owner. Jerry needs a coach who will allow him to share the limelight and who won't bristle when he speaks as coach, GM and owner.

I'm always reminded about what Jerry said when Parcells left. He said Parcells made him feel like he had to walk on egg shells. Translation: Parcells wanted to be the end-all, be-all, have the final say on everything and be the architect of this team. And Jerry compiled because (as he says now) he needed to restore the Cowboys to prominence because he needed Jerry World to be built.

Since he got his precious stadium, he forced Parcells out the door by forcing TO on him and has hired "Yes man" and coaches desperate for their chance to coach.

Sorry, but Jason aint going anywhere. Jerry sees him as his Tom Landry so he's going to rid him as far as he can. The Cowboys are still making money so Jerry has no incentive to change. :(

+1

Said this a couple of times in the past, but WTH can't Jerry just accept the fact a good HC is going to get most of the visibility, deal with it, cultivate an atmosphere that would accommodate the Johnsons, Parcells, emerging elite HCs? No - his ego is his hubris, yet Jerry would get more credit if he did what I just suggested.

Sadly, Parcells was a tool for Jerry to continue to play fantasy football and continue to laugh all the way to the bank. As long as you pay him, Jerry will behave as he always has. Some consider it heresy to do like Giants fans in the 70's and revolt until the team changes management, but that's exactly what needs to happen. In history, enough French got SICK of hearing you were patriotic only if you sheepishly let Louis XVI continue to ruin the country. They had a revolution and a regime change.

I come less with the exception of general football stuff because I'm not going to emotionally invest my soul on a team Jerry had ruined. Jerry bought this team because it was elite for 20 years. It was elite because it had a great owner, GM, HC, and QB....and number of teams have done well lately because they followed that pattern. Jerry has willfully chosen NOT to do that for years - this is the result. But forget my attempts to reason - you will rant at me, then cry in your beer for many more years.

I agree with some of this, but jason has cost us more than a handful of games with pathetic play calling.
He is notorious for this, and that is why he has had his playcalling duties stripped the past couple seasons.

While Jerry is a terrible, delusional, egomaniac GM/owner/President/CEO/Part-time coach, he still has no control of icing his own kicker, blowing multiple 20 point leads in the 2nd half, losing to a divisional rival up 13-14 with 4 minutes left, and playing not to win the game but not to lose the game (against the pats for example).
