Chris Carter says Dallas should trade Romo for JJ Watt

Romo is the better QB because of his experience and ability to read and abuse defenses. Dak will get there because he seems to take preparation seriously and seeks to improve himself. He has a bright future as long as he works hard to improve his game.

Unfortunately he is going to be hampered by the same things Romo was and that's a poor defense and below average coaching staff.

Just to put things in perspective.. Dallas ran play-action for Dak close to double what they did with Romo in 2014, their usage that year being the highest in years in the Garrett tenure..

So Dallas passing game was heavily built off the threat of he run this year and Linehan in his first year of total control of the offense with a QB that he had the whole off-season to work with while Romo was recovering, was pretty good..

I think we definitely would have taken much more advantage of the deep ball if Romo played this year..

Yes and in the end the coaching staff blew it by going away from the run when they needed to rely on it the most. It happens with regularity and will continue to happen.

They can't help themselves.

If the Texans had a healthy Romo, they would be playing this weekend with a chance to win. That organization knows it.

I agree but that still doesnt make Romos value worth a 27 year old Watt. Maybe Im wrong, but if the organization "knows it" we should see a deal!

if they are serious about winning, the trade would make them an instant superbowl contender...if they keep watt, they dont become a contender at all.

I'm comparing him to Romo, who shredded the Eagles defense, and if you paid attention, that very team started to defend Romo differently than Dak, when they both didn't have Zeke.. the Eagles brought the pressure from the get-go against Dak, but couldn't afford to against Romo's arm...

And yes someone will make the argument that their Defense was OK without Watt. That would still not be a fair straight up trade... It would require the Cowboys giving up Romo a first rounder and probably more.
