FWIW the trade scenario posed by the OP was posted on the NFL or NFL network page the other day as well.
One thing is clear by the gist of this thread -- Chris Carter doesn't have much of a realistic perception of Romo as a bargaining chip. I can hardly believe he actually thinks Romo for Watt would constitute a realistic trade. Outside of him being on a pretty powerful recreational drug, that suggestion makes no sense. Romo is old and seriously comprised physically, while Watt is young and likely has a better chance for recovery. As much as I'd love to see that happen, it's just wishful thinking for fans to entertain such thoughts. I think Romo is most likely to be released.
Hes also 10 years younger than Romo and the best defensive player in the league.
If Im betting on one of them to heal up then Im betting on youth.
No dig at Romo, and I get his value as a potential franchise QB for a season or two but Id highly, highly doubt the Texans go for this deal. Its a DREAM deal for us.
I agree that Houston would be the most logical landing spot for Romo. He would make them a legit playoff contender, health permitting. As for Watt, I didn't realize he was in such dire straits, physically. Healthy, or not, I do know that he has a big contract in Houston, and I don't see how Houston could afford to take his cap hit and take on Romo's contract at the same time. I read somewhere yesterday that Houston has no cap space to speak of as it is...doing a deal like that would seem almost impossible to me.They've been talking about somehow aquiring Romo down here.
They'd be instant contenders with him. I think they beat the Patriots with competent QB play and Romo is more than competent.
Just to be clear I don't think a Watt trade is feasible and don't want one. He's a shell of what he was and his salary is ridiculous. I would ask for a decent draft pick...at least a 2nd rounder.
If Romo can stay healthy. Houston has a very productive QB for at least 3 years.
If it ever came down to Dallas Cowboys vs Houston Texans in super bowl. I would take Dak.
We have Dak. I'm not really concerned with what Romo can or can't do especially after what I just saw from Dak.Watt plays DL.. Romo doesn't..
And Romo did pretty well in his return throwing darts..

I never said he wasn't lol? What are you getting at? The post I replied to had nothing to do with Romo being bad.Romo isn't superior to the current Texans' QBs? Ok...
And we have Romo and I'm not really concerned with what he can or can't do after what I have seen from him, particularly against the Eagles when both QBs played without Zeke on the field and Philly brought the blitz to Dak..
But you saw nothing from Romo other than one pass lol.
A TD drive throwing darts all over the field in a matter of seconds, while Dak struggled to move the ball against blitzes and Philly coming for him, because Zeke was out..

Instant contenders? Please. One thing I've learned is that the reason some teams seem to wallow in mediocrity is because the organization is poorly run from the top on down. I don't have to look any further than an owner who is willing to give Brock Osweiler $18 million per year, sight unseen mind you (they didn't even have him in for workout/interview before signing him) to know that this team is going to go nowhere fast. If Romo is smart, he'll stay far away from that team.
What about the other 15 meaningful games Dak played on this year? Or winning 11 straight? Romo threw one pass and another dump pass to McFadden and now he's throwing 'darts' all around the field. Stop it. You'd rather take one meaningless game against one of the worst teams in the league over what he did all season.
Dak had one of the best seasons ever for a rookie and he still has to deal with crap like this. I almost wish he wasn't here for fans like you so you could deal with life after Tony like we did after Aikman.
One meaningless game, that they decided to sit Zeke, but played Dak, who didn't do anything in the meaningless game?
Whose criticizing Dak?
I'm comparing him to Romo, who shredded the Eagles defense, and if you paid attention, that very team started to defend Romo differently than Dak, when they both didn't have Zeke.. the Eagles brought the pressure from the get-go against Dak, but couldn't afford to against Romo's arm...
