Sometimes NFL news comes from the unlikeliest of places.

On Monday, an update regarding the stagnant career of cornerback Chris McAlister, a top-ten pick in the 1999 draft, appeared via a Los Angeles Times blog dedicated to real estate listings.

McAlister owns a Beverly Hills mansion, which he has listed for merely $7.9 million.

"I will be back in full force on Sept. 15," he said. "I can't say what team yet, but I will be playing again."

McAlister spent his entire career with the Ravens, who released him in February.

The fact that McAlister specifically said September 15 could mean that he's signing with one of the four teams that played Monday night, since a team must finish its Week One game before being able to sign a vested veteran without potentially owing the player his full salary for the season if he's later released. If McAlister were signing with any of the teams that played on Sunday or Thursday, he could have signed earlier than the 15th.

Doesn't that rule us out?

I would feel better having him out on the field instead of Ball, but soemthing tells me Dallas would only want him if he's willing to play ST also.

He returned punts and kicks early in his career.

I'd love it. Which means it won't happen right?

McCallister > Ball

Brings depth to a thin position. Also it could mean that Procter finally leaves which 99% of us want him gone.

Bring him to Dallas althought I'd be shocked if its not Detroit. They could not stop the N.O. passing attack all night. They need a good cover corner.

Thank you...finally a rationale thought. :bang2:

It really can't hurt us and you bring some experience to help out our young guys. It would be cheap and worth the money just to have come in a few snaps to help out.

I'd rather have Proctor than Holland...I'm not saying Proc is good or even average on a good day, but he can backup at both guard postions and center and he does play on special teams. Holland is a fat piece of **** that absolutely sucks at the only position he plays....I never have quite figured out some peoples love fest with Holland on this board.

You guys fall in love with big names. Mccalister = done
We fall in love with players that can still help the team. Nobody thinks he will be a starter, or at least I don't, but he would add quality depth on the cheap, and he's still better than Ball and Mickens.

Lining up in that spot doesn't qualify as backing up. He's a JAG.
