Chris McAlister-DB- Ravens Sep. 15 - 8:37 am et

According to the Los Angeles Times, free agent CB Chris McAlister said, "I will be back in full force on Sept. 15. I can't say what team yet, but I will be playing again."

He's likely talking about one of the four teams that played Monday night. There was a report last week that he had bought a home in Baltimore, but coach Jim Harbaugh shot down any chance of McAlister returning to the Ravens. At 32 and coming off knee surgery, we're not sure how he'd a help a team.

Bart Scott is done?

Jamal Lewis was done?

Edwin Mulitalo was done?

There's no magic formula. All teams get rid of players near the end of their careers and are right, and all teams do it and the player still has something left.

Who did Terry Glenn sign with after we 86ed him?

When you speak in absolutes, you are usually speaking absolute nonsense. The Ravens do a good job, but they are not infallible.

totally agree with that Hostile, enjoyed hearing you, DC and the other guy last night on dc fanatic, great stuff last night as usual.

Remember when the steelers let preston pearson go, and we signed him.
How about Herb adderly, who helped the cowboys win a superbowl. I still remember the way Herb could jump over a wr in a summersault leap and intercept the ball. havent seen a cb do that since!

Or how about lance allworth, or Ray Horton who helped the cowboys win their first superbowl Hostile or even Mike Dikta. Now and then those old wiley vets have something left.

Its like the Woodson cb that tore his knee up and steelers let him go and he signed with the ravens. He helped them too in the superbowl.

Totally agree now and then you find a wiley old vet that knows the game and can help your team. That was one of my points a while back, get some vets that know the game and show the young players what it takes to get to the super bowl and win. Just like jackie smith, we signed him and he helped the cowboys get to the super bowl.

Even players on the team that year in 78 said if it wasnt for jackie smith, the cowboys wouldnt have gotten to the superbowl that year.

Sure, I think you will win, but I'm not scared of a friendly bet with a pal.

Name your stakes.

You have to put a big Hawkeye logo in your sig/avatar or whatever for a week, and I'll do the same for the Arizona logo.

I dont know much about Arizona football, but if we play like we did the first two weeks, you guys will win by 20.

I wouldn't mind having Chris for the depth but I doubt he signed here. Likely he's going to the Patriots.

It's New England. Absolutely no doubt in my mind. They played Monday, their secondary is bad, and he is exactly the type of player they go after.

Sometimes NFL news comes from the unlikeliest of places.

On Monday, an update regarding the stagnant career of cornerback Chris McAlister, a top-ten pick in the 1999 draft, appeared via a Los Angeles Times blog dedicated to real estate listings.

McAlister owns a Beverly Hills mansion, which he has listed for merely $7.9 million.

"I will be back in full force on Sept. 15," he said. "I can't say what team yet, but I will be playing again."

McAlister spent his entire career with the Ravens, who released him in February.

The fact that McAlister specifically said September 15 could mean that he's signing with one of the four teams that played Monday night, since a team must finish its Week One game before being able to sign a vested veteran without potentially owing the player his full salary for the season if he's later released. If McAlister were signing with any of the teams that played on Sunday or Thursday, he could have signed earlier than the 15th.

By saying the 15th means nothing. This reporter sucks on this one. Week 1 is not over until after the games on the 14th. So by saying the 15th still leaves it open to all teams.
