People keep making the assumption that Garrett will even hire an offensive coordinator.

It would be pretty stupid if he doesn't. Even if Garrett calls his own plays, why would you bypass the opportunity to add another sharp mind to the football braintrust of the organization?

I guess the football decisions around here have been so flawless and sound that they dont need to be improved on, and we don't need to add anymore intellectual talent. :blind:

That article was on Dec 28th.

Probably did not want to say anything before his bowl game.

Oops. Not So Fast on me.

What's really dumb is I looked right at the date before I copied the link.

Have we seen any confirmation that this is a done deal yet?

It's Jerry's fault.

I only blame Jerry for the (many) things that are his fault.

This would not be one of them.

If Chryst knew we were interested (it appears he was) and he chose Texas than this is his decision, not a lot Jerry could do about that.

Wiffed again. Thanks Jerry.

first off .........why would he come here?...to hold Garretts clip board?.....Garrett calls the plays.......

second.....we need NFL experienced coordinators if we are gonna go with an unexperienced HC....

Jerry said hes never been truned down by a coach. Garrett is looking young and lively, Chryst must have intentions of being HC then.

from what I heard norv tell josh lewin this morning it seemed like Jason is going to hire a bunch of new people, norv said twice jason knows how important it is to be surrounded by good people because he saw it like that everywhere he went.

So I take that to mean they have been talking and garrett is going to hire an OC.

Chryst actually turned us down previously, I think it was 2006.

Hos you stated the other day that Jerry is moving quickly to pursue top notch Asst.'s. Who and where do you see them coming from? It still makes me nervous that Jason wants to call his own plays. Not from a production standpoint, but from an overall HC standpoint. I assumed going with Garrett Jerry would get serious and go with the Chiefs method and hire top quality asst.'s with the young guy as the leader.

I heard yesterday that Todd Haley saw a whole new ballgame by not calling plays this year, and he said that he missed a lot of things calling his own plays.
I do not know at this time. As far as I know Chryst is still at the top of our list. But he may prefer the college ranks and being Texas' OC is a good job. I cannot deny that.

It'll play out, but not at the speed we all want. I care about the HC guy much more than I do the OC and DC, with the DC being a little higher for me than the OC because we know Garrett and Sherman both have OC experience.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sherman is promoted to OC with Garrett becoming the HC.

In a way, it would be logical given the success the offense generally has had over the past 3-4 yrs.

I think it makes sense too, given the success at the WR position as well.

He'll be able to help devise gameplans, which will allow Garrett to pretty much worry about getting the team ready and then calling the plays on Sunday rather than doing most of the offensive legwork himself.

You're making the assumption that there aren't any sharp minds already on the offensive staff. I think a handful of coaches on this staff would be insulted.

Frankly, after a 6-10 season, I don't give a crap who gets their feeling hurt. Anyone on this staff should just be thankfull they have a job after being implicitly and actively involved in this season's three ring circus.

One possible reason for Chryst to choose UT over Dallas...threat of labor unrest in the NFL.

Can we please get a coach that know how to scheme a running play? I like Garrett but not always happy about his play calling espically the running? Is it bad 0-Line or the Scheme?

Another point about Sherman, is he actually deserves to be promoted for the work hes done with wr corp.
