trading bennett would be the the dummiest thing since gus ferotte knocked himself out on the goal post.

Wow, that's a tough call.

Given that they are 5-2, and how much we like to run out of the 2 TE package.... it'd change the scope of our offense. A lot. And in mid-season, we wouldn't have training camp/preseason to adjust.

I wouldn't be worried about that, that Phillips guy we got is pretty solid

it's just missing out on Bennett's enormous potential that is the deal-breaker for me

OMGGG are you serious? And we didn't take that!?

This class is DEEP! We could address so much with that pick.

That's upsetting.

wow: that is tough.....if it was the Cinci of old: no brainer obviously, but they looked GOOD today and probably will win 9-11 games this year...so no thanks. I think JJ did the right thing.....for once!

Laufenberg just let that be known a minute ago on the score.

I will put the video up of him saying it later or tomorrow morning.

pretty interesting they would give a 1 for him.

Do it.

We know MT is an idiot.
And we'd be selecting (hopefully) a non-odiot with first-round projected skills.

I say take it.

You don't get anything of value unless you put up something of value. And marvelous and immature MB is that as trade bait.

I'd take that first rounder for Bennett. We could still get the blocking we need out of Phillips and maybe bring back Tony Curtis to be the 3rd TE. This is mostly based on the hunch that Cinci will drift back to the pack and that Bennett seems to be at high risk of doing something stupid to sidetrack his career.

Top ten pick? No-brainer, I'd do it.

But it will probably be a pick in the twenties. As someone said, so much of this offense is built around the two-TE packages that it would really hurt the production. With that, combined with Bennett's obvious potential (even though it hasn't translated into a ton of production yet), and I think Jerry was right to pass.

Can't we just put Marty at WR and Roy in the slot or something? Heh.

Though Rookie John Phillips shows alot of promise, the depth Bennett provides in case of injury to Witten alone is big enough this year to retain him, even at the cost of a 1st round choice.

Looks like we need to begin to utilize Bennet for what he's worth. If we're in the redzone, there is no reason why a refreshed Bennet shouldn't be on the field.

I would have taken a 1st. Making tough decisions is the name of the game and sometimes you gotta gamble. Bennett will be playing 2nd fiddle for at least another 5-6 years.

Cincy is playing well but I just can't see them having a pick lower then say 26.

We have been killing people in the "22" package (2 RBs, 2 TEs) all year long, and with Austin busting out the past 2 games our offense is bursting at the seams with weapons. No way we mess that up for a 20-something number pick.

Jerry did the right thing. Do you not think Bennett has the potential worthy of a late first round pick (cincy is doing pretty well now)?

Bennett is just not being used to his full potential, but he is worth more to us than what cincy offered.

Should of traded him if they offered a first, Bennett is a flake, will never get it, perfect spot for him in Cincy, a poorly run franchise, full of characters..

Would of used that first and ours to move up for a left tackle...

Even if we made the trade, we would have had to use that pick to get another TE to keep running that 2 TE set. It's a good decision by Jerry not to make that trade.
